Kim Chiu marked her birthday in advance with a charity event with orphaned kids of Loyola Heights, Quezon City last April 16. The program started off with a magic show that the kids really loved, followed by her unexpected arrival. Apparently, the kids didn’t know that she would be spending the day with them, entertaining them with an impromptu song number, and distributing loads of party favors at the end of the event.
In an interview with a few media reporters, Kim shared that sharing her blessings with orphaned kids is particularly close to her heart. “Gusto ko yung mga batang walang mga magulang. Two years ago, [nag-celebrate ako with] babies na walang incubator. Last year yung mga babies na iniwan lang sa kalye. Ngayon mga malalaking bata naman ang kasama ko para sa birthday ko. Malapit ang loob ko sa mga batang walang magulang kasi laking-lola ako. [Lumaki ako ng] wala akong mga magulang. I have my dad, pero wala siya sa side ko. Ganon din feeling ko.”
Despite her difficult childhood, Kim stressed that she’s really grateful for all the blessings she has received since she joined show business. “Wish ko, sana tuloy-tuloy lang itong mga nanagyayaring maganda sa akin. Masaya ako sa mga nangyayari sa akin dito sa showbiz dahil natutupad lahat ng pangarap ko, nakukuha ko lahat ng gusto ko.” Asked if she’s also wishing for love to come her way this year, she simply replied, “Bahala na si God kung ano man gusto niya mangyari sa buhay ko. Basta magtiwala lang ako sa sarili ko at mahalin ko ang sarili ko.”
In the meantime, Kim said that she’s all set to start shooting the Star Magic movie with Gerald Anderson. Contrary to popular belief, the young actress maintained that she has no problem working with him again. “Nagsimula na ako kahapon, pero hindi ko siya kaeksena. Okay lang naman, wala namang kung ano man. Kung trabaho, trabaho.” She added that there’s no reason for her to feel bitter about whatever happened between them in the past. “Wala naman po kasi magkaibigan naman talaga kami. Wala naman kaming pinagawayan as kaming dalawa.”
Kim further shared that her movie with Gerald will not only focus on their team-up but with other famous on screen couples as well. “Kasi ang dami namin sa movie. Hindi siya naka-focus sa isang tao lang so ang daming mangyayari. May eksena kami ni Gerald, meron din sa ibang artista, ganon. Maraming something actually. Pero yung main story it’s all about love. Parang lahat ng bagay gagawin mo alang-alang sa pag-ibig.”
Kim was aware of Gerald’s growing romance with Sarah and she wished him well in all his endeavors. “Yes, super happy ako para kay Gerald, sa kung ano mang naabot niya ngayon sa personal life niya [at] sa career niya, masayang masaya ako.”
As for her own love life, Kim explained that it’s important for her to enter a relationship with the right person. “Siyempre naninigurado lang tayo. Meron naman kahit papano [na umaaligid], na-e-enjoy ko naman nangyayari sa buhay ko ngayon [buhay-single]. Pwede naman [akong mag-relasyon] kung nandiyan yung tamang lalaki.”
The young actress said that she’s not looking for an ideal guy, but there has to be chemistry between them. “Depende kung naramdaman ko na may spark kaming dalawa, e di yun na. Kapag may connect [at] masaya kami sa isa’t isa, [at] naiintindihan niya ako. Wala akong ideal man, wala akong ideal boyfriend kasi baka mag-fail lang ako sa, ‘ay gusto ko ganito’ pero ang ending iba pala. Gusto ko lang maramdaman mahal ako, aalagaan ako.”
