Just weeks before she turns 24, Sarah Geronimo wishes for growth both as person and performer.
"At saka [pati sa] lahat, 'yung faith ko sa Diyos, sa plans Niya for my personal life, career, [at] 'yun nga, love life," she told ABS-CBN News in a recent interview.
The singer-actress is on a tight schedule and wouldn't be able to squeeze in a grand birthday celebration or an out-of-the-country trip. Sarah shared that after her major concert, "Sarah Geronimo 24/SG," which will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on July 7 and 21, shooting will resume for her third film with John Lloyd Cruz.
With her string of accomplishments in recording, TV shows, concerts, and movies, the Popstar Princess remains one of the most admired personalities among Filipino children. What may well be an early birthday treat for the Kapamilya star was being hailed as the "most favorite singer" of kids aged seven to 14, with a score of 17%, as revealed in a recent study conducted by Cartoon Network.
The Cartoon Network "New Generations 2012" study looked into the diverse choices and lifestyles of Filipino kids from various socioeconomic classes. Also in the list are international sensation Charice, who tied with Canadian superstar Justin Bieber (8%), while country sweetheart Taylor Swift and half-Filipino singer-songwriter Bruno Mars placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
Over the years Sarah has been identified not only with singing powerhouse ballads but with her song-and-dance numbers. This has spawned her comparisons to American pop-R&B superstar Beyoncé. Although Sarah appreciates such complements, she believes that she still has a long way to go before she reaches the stature of her personal music idol.
"Ma-achieve lang natin ang kahit 10 percent ng galing niya, okay na ako," Sarah quipped.
When it comes to matters of her heart, Sarah revealed that Gerald Anderson, her onscreen partner and real-life suitor, has good relationship with her parents.
"At least, may taong talagang humaharap sa kanila. First time nangyari 'to," she said with a chuckle.
Nevertheless, she maintained that relationships shouldn't be hurried, especially as she deemed, "ang hirap, ang daming hiwalayan, masakit 'pag ganoon eh."
