After 25 years in show business, Aiza Seguerra is happy to be doing more acting jobs this year. She is part of ABS-CBN’s upcoming series, Be Careful With My Heart where she plays a single mom. “Ako si Kuti (short for kuya and ate), nakakatandang kapatid ni Jodi Sta. Maria at ako po’y isang nanay. Actually, ang kagandahan kasi nagsimula ako bilang artista. So ngayong ika-25th ko sa industriya, I’m getting more acting jobs than singing. And I’m very happy na nagagawa ko pa rin ng tama yung pinagsimulan kong trabaho,” said the singer-actress during the press con of Be Careful With My Heart last July 3.
Aiza admitted that she was actually surprised that she’ll be playing a mother role. Apparently, she didn’t know about it until after she agreed to be part of the show. She even joked about how she could have conceived a child given her gender preference in real life. “Medyo nagulat ako kasi ‘di ako na-inform na I’ll be having a kid in the story. Parang biglaan na lang na, ‘Uy, may anak ka nga pala!’ Siyempre nagulat lang ako sa edad kong 28 e mother role na ako (laughs). Okay lang. Akala ko nung una mahirap maging nanay. Pero hindi pala kasi I didn’t have to change anything about myself. Nagkataon lang na nagkaanak ako.”
Asked if she’d ever consider having a baby, Aiza was quick to say yes since being a lesbian doesn’t change the fact that she has the ability to get pregnant. “Why not? May matres ako (laughs)! Sa totoo lang, ako yung type ng tao na ‘pag dumating, dumating. So kapag nagkaanak ako, yahoo, wow! Malalaman ko yun pagdating ng panahon. Huwag lang yung menopause na ako saka ako maghahangad [ng anak]. Adoption is okay pero iba pa rin yung galing sa ’yo,” she added with a laugh.
