Anne Curtis masaya sa kanyang unang indie film

It’s been a month since Anne Curtis shot Blood Ransom in California, but she can hardly believe that she had the chance to her first indie film in the international scene. In an interview with Push.com.ph, the beautiful actress shared that the whole experience taught her to be on her toes when it comes to her craft. “Madami silang say sa ginagawa nila. I like that the director gives us the freedom to do what we want. You have to know what you’re talking about, what your scenes are, [and the nuances of] your character. Kasi kapag yung co-actor mo nagsabi na 'I think my character would be doing this' kailangan may sagot ka. It’s good to be around people who are that inspired about acting.”

A crime thriller directed by Fil-Am director Francis dela Torre, Blood Ransom tells the story of how a kidnapping gone wrong would unexpectedly turn into a dangerous love affair between Jeremiah (played by Alexander Doetsch) and Crystal (Anne Curtis). When asked how it feels to be working with a foreign team, Anne said that she easily established rapport not only with her co-stars but to the whole staff as well. “It was a different world and experience. It was so much fun working with amazing people—the director Francis dela Torre, our cinematographer Jasmine Kuhn, and then we have our producer Barclay DeVeau who’s so nice. The whole crew and my co-actors were so nice to me. There, I’m a nobody.  We’re all starting from scratch. It was so good to be working with people na starting din sa industry doon.”

Blood Ransom is still in post-production, but many of Anne’s supporters can’t hardly wait for it to be shown next year especially with all the exciting teaser photos being released online. Anne is hoping that they’d get to join international film festivals for a wider audience if possible. “I don’t know. Sana, you never know. It depends on the storyline I guess. But I’m excited to see how it all turns out, yung mga kinunan namin. Kasi it was a different world for me and to be able to shoot with a whole different team sobrang ang saya. Nakakakilig ang feeling. Ganon talaga e, i-shoot muna pero ‘di agad ipapalabas.  Hindi tulad dito [sa atin sa Pilipinas] na shoot and then palabas na agad [sa sinehan]. Premiere night may eksena pa that same night. So nandun yung element of surprise kasi walang dubbing dubbing. Kailangan live sound. Mabusisi talaga sila. It was an amazing experience. And I’m so happy that it’s my first indie film,” she shared.
