In an exclusive interview with Hot Pinoy Showbiz, Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 4 Second Big Placer Karen Reyes shared that the most important lesson she learned as a housemate is to take control of her emotions. She didn’t deny the fact that she seemed aggressive during her early weeks inside the house. “Nabasa ko nga po sa iba’t ibang social networking sites yung reaction ng ibang tao sa akin. At first sabi nila, ‘Ayaw ko kay Karen, ang landi landi!’ Tanggap ko naman yun dahil nung nag-interview si Toni Gonzaga sa loob, nung nakita ko yung video noon sa part namin ni Kit, parang nalalalandian ako sa sarili ko. Pero nung nagtagal nakita ko yung changes sa sarili ko. [Kaya siguro] may nagiba rin yung tingin sa akin,” she began.
But even prior her PBB stint, Karen admitted that she’s sometimes misinterpreted by other people as well. “Kahit sa labas, ang first impression sa akin suplada, mataray, maarte. Pero paano ko ipapakita yung totoong ako? Sa loob kasi ang naipakita ko muna yung negative side ko. Na prangka ako. Hanggang sa magkasunod ako na-nominate. Naisip ko paano ‘pag natanggal ako? Hindi ko mapru-prove na karapat-dapat akong housemate. Dun nagsimula yung pagbabago ko.
Karen was initially linked to Kit Thompson, until the latter suddenly had a change of heart and shifted his attention to Myrtle Sarrosa. When asked if she ever felt insecure of Myrtle for what happened, the pretty teen from Mindoro honestly replied, “Hindi po, swear! Nung una parang nagseselos ako. Sa isip-isip ko, bakit parang wala na yung bonding namin ni Kit? Nalaman ko na pinagseselos pala talaga ako ni Kit. Akala naman niya hahabulin ko siya. Na-realize ko naman hindi naman kailangan. At nagsawa rin ako dun sa minu-minuto kaming nag-aaway ni Kit.”
But Karen soon found a new admirer, Ryan Boyce, who once claimed that they’re an item while they were inside Big Brother House. But Karen insisted that they never became an official couple. “Ay hindi po. Sabi ko, paglabas kaya ganito pa rin kaya tayong lahat? Kami ni Ryan nagbibiruan kami ng ‘Tayo? Tayo?’” Naging close kami kasi siya yung palagi kong kasama ‘pag may problema ako, palagi siyang nandiyan sa likod ko at palagi kaming nagkukwentuhan.”
But is it true that they already said ‘I love you’ to each other? “Meron po. Pero hindi naman ibig sabihin nun kami na. Nanliligaw po siya hanggang ngayon. Pero sabi ko friends [lang muna kami]. Tinanong ko siya na, ‘Willing ka ba maghintay?’ Willing naman daw po siya. So yun sa natutunan ko sa [bahay ni Kuya] yung mag-control ng nararamdaman at hindi padalos-dalos sa decision.”
Meantime, Karen joins the cast of Angelito: Ang Bagong Yugto as the best friend of Charee Pineda’s sister in the story.
