Birthday boy Xian Lim (he turned 23 on Thursday, July 12) has found a way to deal with detractors. He has learned to ignore them.
“Hindi naman ako magpapa-affect. Siyempre iintindihin ko kung bakit nangyari iyon. The next time around, maiintindihan ko kung bakit. Hindi ko alam, hindi naman siguro sila galit. Hindi ko naman pinipersonal ang mga ganoong bagay,” he said during his birthday presscon on Tuesday, July 10.
Xian knew he should brace himself for criticisms when he joined showbiz.
“Ni-ready ko naman yung sarili ko noong pinasok ko ang pag-aartista. Pero siymepre nabigla rin ako sa mga lumalabas kasi hindi rin naman totoo, yung iba rin sumusobra na. Pero iniisip ko na pwede namang gamitin iyon as contructive criticisms kasi syempre hindi naman nila ako kilala.”
Xian hopes people will give him more time to prove himself and get to know him better.
“Kasi maraming intrigang lumalabas, positive and negative write-ups. Only time can tell, as much as I’d like to clarify at sabihin ang totoo, entitled naman tayo sa kanya-kanyang opinion. So, sana mas makillala niyo pa ako.”
He’d rather focus on his fans and what he achieved so far.
“Thankful lang ako na andito ako sa position na ganito. Noong pumasok ako, andito rin kayo noong wala pa masyadong shows or nangyayari, nakita ninyo naman yung step by step. Thankful na nabigyan ako ng ganitong opportunity.”
Yahoo Philippines OMG’s Breakthrough Actor of the Year also clarified his relationship with Kim Chiu, with whom he won the award-giving body’s Best Loveteam of the Year honors.
“Klaro naman po na whenever she needs a helping hand, andito lang naman ako. Kami ni Kim, we’re okay. We’re just really good friends and kumportable kami sa isa’t isa. Yung pagkakaibigan na mapapagkatiwalaan ang isa’t isa.”

How different is Xian’s birthday this year ?
“It has been a wonderful year. Siyempre mas masaya, siyempre sa lahat ba naman ng nangyayari and mas marami na akong alam ngayon. I have more experiences now sa lahat ng ginagawa ko.”
As usual, Xian shared his blessings with the needy. He went to Servants of Charity Centerville in Quezon City on Tuesday, July 10.

“Sana sa lahat ng nangyari ngayon, sana tuloy-tuloy lang siya. Sana ma-sustain. Sana patuloy ko mapasaya ang mga tao sa mga shows, sa mga roles na pino-portray ko and pati na rin sa mga kanta na sinusulat ko, sana unti-unti nilang matanggap yun at magustuhan.”
