Jessy Mendiola didn’t deny that her friendship with JM De Guzman got strained after his unexpected declaration of love for her on Kris TV. She just didn’t like the fact that he didn’t give her fair warning about it prior to his TV guesting. But she maintained that they’ve already threshed things out last weekend. “Kasi nagulat nga ako so I texted him. ‘Huy, ano itong interview na ito? Ikaw. Lakas. ‘Di mo ako ininform about this. ‘Pero nagkausap na kami at nung Sunday nagbatian naman kami sa ASAP,” she said in an interview after the premiere night of The Reunion, Tuesday, August 14.
Jessy admitted that JM also apologized to her mom for his hasty actions. “Nag-sorry siya sa mom ko kasi nga hindi ako ready. Nag-sorry siya sa mom ko dahil dun sa pagsasalita niya sa TV.” The 19-year-old further explained that she’s the type who doesn’t have overly romantic notions about love. “Oo, sa ngayon, mas mabuti kung isip muna [ang paiiralin ko] kasi ang bata ko pa. May oras para diyan. Kung bukas man o bukas makalawa, then go. But right now, I don’t know yet when I’ll be ready for love.”
In the meantime, she’s very happy with the positive feedback on The Reunion especially with her good chemistry with Enchong Dee. Asked about their kissing scene in the film, she replied, “Sobrang ginulat niya ako dun. Kasi antok na ako. Hindi ko alam na ganon pala ka-torrid yung kissing scene. So nung nag-kiss kami, ‘Wow Enchong!’ Pero tawa lang kami ng tawa. Kasi after the first take, ginawa namin siya ng paulit-ulit [dahil part yun ng process sa paggawa ng pelikula]. I’ve known him for a long time so ok lang. I am very proud of our movie.”
