Raymond loves mom Annabelle for who she is

It doesn’t matter whether people approve of her or not. Raymond Gutierrez, Annabelle Rama’s son, will always be behind her.

"Whatever fight my mom has or is getting into, we are here to support her. We are here to give her moral support though we will not involve ourselves as much as possible because siyempre lahat naman kami may kanya-kanya ng buhay, kanya-kanyang trabaho.  But we do support her as a family," he declared.

Raymond admitted negative news about his mom does stress him out, especially if he reads about it early in the morning via Twitter.

Joke time

"But you know sometimes in our family, we just make a joke out of it.  She does have her point and we may not express it the same way as she does, but we have learned to accept and love her for the way she is. So that's part of the package. That's part of being the son of Annabelle Rama," he declared proudly.

This doesn't mean though that the family lets Annabelle off the hook with her controversies. Raymond said they do talk to her about the issues and he is glad  she listens to their advice. "Siyempre nakikinig pa rin siya as much as possible. We tell her, Ma, stop fighting with no name or mga hindi naman relevant people. Why waste your time, money and stress yourself?"

He added that he even suggested that she just travel with their dad, Eddie Gutierrez make herself beautiful.

"Pero feeling ko her year is not complete. Kailangan talaga niyang i-express so we have learned to accept that through the years. Alam na namin, so hindi na siya bagong konsepto sa bahay," Raymond said smiling.

Better host

The stress his mom sometimes gives him is nothing or negligible compared to the opportunities she has given him in showbiz. Raymond has evolved into a better host since Annabelle ushered him into the limelight through TV shows like "Showbiz Central" which he co-hosted for five years.

"’Showbiz Central' was really my training ground and it turned me into a mature host.  Mga serious issues like death, break-ups na hindi ko pinag-uusapan natutunan ko dun. You can throw any person in front of me and I can have a conversation with him," he said.

Raymond will put what he learned to the test in his new show titled "HOT T.V." which starts airing on Sunday, Aug. 5 on the same timeslot as the now defunct "Showbiz Central."  The show, directed by Rico Gutierrez, is also hosted by Roderick Paulate, Jennylyn Mercado, and Regine Velasquez.

"It's like another experience of hosting. It’s different because with ‘Showbiz Central’ I read entertainment news from tabloids and broadsheets. Dito iba ang assignment ko. I’m doing celebrity crossover,” related Raymond.

There are times when Raymond would be out of the studio to get stories.

“That’s okay kasi I also get bored in the studio. Going out of the studio to interview people is an additional knowledge to me as a host,” he remarked.
