Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo took a break from her U.S. tour to crown the best karaoke singer in Southern California.
Geronimo made a special guest appearance at the “Starquest” singing contest.
Most of the contestants were Filipino. The winner took home a $500 cash prize. “Itong feeling ng singing contest, it brings us back home, ‘yung get-together natin,” Geronimo said.
“Ngayon, I just want to congratulate all the contestants in advance. Lahat naman sila winners kasi lahat tayo may love for music,” she added.
Along with singer Mark Bautista, the Kapamilya star crowned 29-year-old medical assistant John Estal as the winner of the contest which pitted a dozen local singers against each other.
“It was really nerve-racking. I was really nervous, but I enjoyed the show,” Estal said.
Geronimo is now wrapping up what has so far been a successful U.S. tour, but not without some showbiz gossip.
Actor Gerald Anderson reportedly stopped courting Geronimo on the advice of her mother.
The Pop Star Princess said that despite this, she remains friends with Anderson, and that she is doing fine with her career and personal life.
“We are okay, we’re okay. We all go through trials. It’s normal naman,” she said.
“Lahat tayo [pinagdaraanan 'yan], ang kinaibahan lang, you’re in show business, so parang kami na sa fishbowl. Nakakakita ang lahat, pero okay naman so far. Everything is well,” she added.
Geronimo will do another concert in San Diego later this week. She will then head to Hawaii to wrap up her concert tour before going back to the Philippines, where she will get back to work.
“I’m doing a movie with John Lloyd Cruz. Ito ang part 3 ng ‘A Very Special Love’ at ‘You Changed My Life,’ so this is going to be the last installment. And I just released my latest album. It’s called ‘Pure OPM Classics,’” she said.
Geronimo said she is also hoping to continue working with Anderson on a possible movie next year.
