At a stage of their "special" friendship where "work comes first," actor Xian Lim clarified speculations that he is "waiting" for his onscreen partner Kim Chiu to be ready to be in a relationship.
"Ayoko naman sabihin na hinihintay [ko siya], mas maganda sabihin na we're enjoying every moment, na kung ano man dumating, just enjoy it, the show, our work," Lim told reporters on Friday during a pictorial for his upcoming drama series with Chiu, "Ina, Kapatid, Anak."
Since their first team-up on the defunct hit series "My Binondo Girl," Lim has been romantically linked to Chiu in real life.
While the two have admitted to seeing each other as "special," there has been no confirmation of a blooming romance between them. This, despite the mutual approval of their respective families.
Lim's mother has expressed her liking to the Kapamilya actress, while Chiu's siblings continue to maintain a good friendship with the basketball player turned actor.
Deeper friendship
Lim said his friendship with Chiu deepens with every project they work on together as a "love team."
"Pag palagi magkasama, you have no choice but to talk. Syempre nag-uusap kayo nagke-kwentuhan, so you know more about each other, mas nakikilala niyo ang isa't isa, same with Enchong (Dee), same with Maja (Salvador)," Lim said.
Dee and Salvdor, along with the "KimXi" tandem, topbill "Ina, Kapatid, Anak."
Lim previously worked with Dee in the "barkada" film "The Reunion," and with Salvador in "My Binondo Girl."
While he likened his relationship to Chiu with his friendship with the two, Lim maintained that the "Binondo" star remains "special" to him.
"[I give her flowers] because I admire Kim. Syempre this girl's special, and if you think someone's special, you give them flowers, for me. I'm that type of guy," he said.
For now, however, work comes as a higher priority for the two. "Mas maganda kung focused kami sa trabaho namin. Parang understood na na mag-focus kami sa trabaho," Lim said.
