Julia Montes and Kathryn Bernardo remain the best of friends even if people try to constantly pit them against each other. In fact, both their respective teleseryes Walang Hanggan and Princess and I are consistent top-raters on primetime TV. Asked about their exemplary performance in their respective shows, Julia happily replied, “Siyempre masaya ako bilang ate at best friend niya. Tulad nga ng sinabi ko noon, nung simula pinagka-clash kami pero hindi talaga kami magka-clash dahil magkaibigan kami at nakita niyo naman na pwede naman parehong maging top-rating yung soap nang hindi kami nagka-clash,” she said in an interview with Push.com.ph right after the Walang Hanggan thanksgiving concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Aside from being supportive of each other’s showbiz career, Julia admitted that they always trade advice when it comes to handling matters of the heart. She said that they don’t really discourage each other from entering a relationship at their age. She merely reminds Kathryn to guard her heart. “Wala [kaming usapan na huwag muna kaming mag-boyfriend]. Basta sabi ko sa kanya, dapat alam mo yung limitations. Pwede maging happy pero ingat lang sa puso bilang ang heart ay mahirap ma-break.”
Nevertheless, she approves of Kathryn’s devoted suitor Daniel Padilla. “Ay, si Daniel? Naku, naku! Sinabihan ko si Daniel na huwag sasaktan si Kathryn. Hahaha. Hindi. Nakatrabaho ko si Daniel sa Gimik 2010, siya yung love team ko dun. And kilala ko siya, mabait and talagang sweet. Wala akong [anything against] sa kanya. Oo naman [boto ako sa kanya].”
