A film that tackles love in its many different forms, Star Cinema’s newest offering and Star Magic’s 20th anniversary project 24/7 In Love features seven different love stories with an ensemble cast that includes some of Star Magic’s brightest talents. In the first story, what starts out as a bittersweet tale for Pokwang ends up being a hilarious love story. The talented comedienne plays a 40-year-old virgin who tries to get over her heartbreak by looking for a different kind of love online. Even though they start out as client and escort (played by Sam Milby), the two find out that they don’t always have to look too far for the right kind of love.
In the next story, Maja Salvador plays a personal secretary secretly in love with her playboy boss Diether Ocampo. When an unexpected arrival comes into his life, he discovers that she can be more than just his employee.
The third story is about best friends and housemates Bea Alonzo and Zanjoe Marudo. Bea’s character Belle has been madly in love with Butch for the longest time. Zanjoe shows his versatility as an actor by portraying a gender-sensitive role effectively despite the challenges faced by his character. Viewers will definitely be equally touched by the light and dramatic moments by Star Magic’s real-life sweethearts.
24/7 In Love showcases the beautiful city of Hanoi in the story of Angelica Panganiban and John Lloyd Cruz. Angel plays a troubled traveler named Verna who escapes to Vietnam to plot revenge against her husband who has been cheating on her. At the resort, she meets a fellow Pinoy named Butch who notices her loneliness. The two kindred souls enjoy the city together until the time comes when they must decide if they are really meant to be.
In an unexpected turn, Piolo Pascual plays a different kind of role as Pipoy, the mentally-challenged best friend of Jomar (Ziljian Jaranillo) who both grow up in a local orphanage. Piolo helps his friend woo the daughter of the cook, played by a witty Xyriel Manabat. The two friends try to think of the most romantic ways to court her while Jomar must also decide if he should put himself up for adoption without sacrificing his friendship. In this light drama about young love and friendship, Ziljian and Xyriel definitely proved they have the talent to carry a scene alongside an award-winning actor like Piolo.
Much to the delight and clamor of Kimerald fans, Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson finally reunite onscreen as ex-high school sweethearts from Cebu who end up crossing paths again in Manila. Kim plays the role of Patty, an account executive who will do anything to please her boss while Gerald is a local hero who ends up becoming the target image model for the client under Patty’s company. Kim and Gerald prove that despite parting ways in real life, they still have the onscreen chemistry that made them one of the hottest love teams of their generation.
Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla play recurring characters throughout the movie. Much to the delight of Kathniel and Princess and I fans, the two teen stars provide the connection between all the stories in the movie. Kathryn plays Jane, a die-hard fan set on winning a video contest so she can finally meet her idol Billy Fernandez (Daniel). In her quest to make the perfect video entry, she encounters all the colorful characters that make up 24/7 In Love.
