So, yun lang.”

For a while siyempre wala pa, kasi bata pa ‘ko.

“So, I’m with Star Magic for six years na.”

JOCIE: “Ikaw naman, Matteo.”

MATTEO: “Wow, six years!

“Ako rin six years ago, I wasn’t with Star Magic yet, my manager was Joji Dingcong.

“'Tapos I started off, eleven years old, being a race driver and pangarap ko talaga maging first Filipino to be in Formula 1, that was my dream. And when I moved, I moved to Manila because of racing.

“'Tapos simula doon, kumuha ako ng endorsements because of racing [there’s] Penshoppe [and] all these brands.

“And then, Joji Dingcong saw me, and he said, ‘You know, I can manage you being a racer...' Ganun, ganun, and then later he said, ‘Matteo, you wanna try showbiz? You wanna try being in a show and stuff?’

“I said, ‘Ah, I don’t know... If it’s good for my racing, it will promote me as a racer, sige.' So, he placed me in a show called Go ‘Kada Go! This was when Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson just came out of PBB.

“So, I was there, hindi talaga ako marunong mag-Tagalog no’n, as in zero.

“And nandoon ako for a while, then nilagay din ako sa Kung Fu Kids, my role again was like an American boy, blah, blah, and all those typical stuff. And then, uhm, my next show was Ligaw na Bulaklak, it was an afternoon show with Roxanne Ginoo.

“And after that… ang tagal na ba? Mahaba na ba?”

JESSY: “Hindi, okey lang, ano ka ba!”

MATTEO: “Then I said, I wanna study, so I left for the States. Coco Martin shot me in the soap, and I left, I have to leave.

“So, I left, I studied in Chicago for college, and when I came back, sabi ko kay Joji, my manager, ‘Can you give me work? I really want to work...’

“So, he placed me in GMA, I did SOP at that time, and some shows, I did a show with Aljur, and then I went back to States.

“Then when I came back again after three years, uhm...I was co-managed by Star Magic. Mr. M, Tita Mariole collaborated with Joji, they had a meeting with my parents. They said, ‘Okay, we’re getting Matteo.’

“And the first day that I came back, December 24, 23? Tita Mariole called me, sabi niya, ‘Hi, welcome to Star Magic. We have a new show for you. It's an afternoon show called Agua Bendita with Andi Eigenmann.’

“So, I was like, 'Andi? Oh, I remember her malaki ang buhok niya, malaki siya, di ba?' So, sabi ko, ‘Oh, Andi, okay.'

“She was so beautiful like she lost so much weight… Basta, she looked different, very different. No because before I didn’t think she’ll become an actress, di ba?

“No, I love Andi, your friend? Di ba in the club she’ll wear glasses like that? Club, ha, 'tapos walang ilaw, may glasses siyang ganyan.

“Anyways, I saw her in the workshop and everything, and yun, we started Agua Bendita. And later they said, ‘Matteo, Andi, Agua Bendita will become a primetime show.’ Whoa, of all the people, why me and her, di ba? We’re just new people.

“So, yun, I did Agua and it was like my stepping-stone, it’s where I learned everything, and after that tuluy-tuloy. I worked on Happy, Yipee, Yehey! the noontime show, and Binondo Girl, then My Cactus Heart.

“And now, this role, Paraiso, is very different.”

JESSY: “'Ayan, nasa Paraiso na tayo!”

DEMAI: “Napagod na si Jessy.”

MATTEO: “'Tapos yun, nakilala ko si Jessy.”

DEMAI: “So, yun ang buong timeline ng ano… and you mentioned na yung pagbabalik mo sa Manila coming from the States, Mr. M and Ms. Mariole spoke with your parents. So, were your parents, your families ba are supportive sa showbiz career n'yo? Noong nag-start kayo, did you have to ask permission from them or sariling desisyon n'yo lang yun?”

MATTEO: “Ako, at the beginning they didn’t want me… they want me to finish school right away before I did anything.

“So, what I did for college, I studied musical theater. I went to a conservatory [school] in Columbia, in Chicago and I studied there.

“And yun, they are very supportive kasi as long as you finish.

“But the problem is I got so homesick because Chicago is so cold, ang lamig-lamig dun, sabi ko, di ko na kaya. 'Tapos ako naglalaba, ako lahat, nagluluto, lahat, sabi ko, 'Ah, I wanna go home.'

“'Tapos blessing naman, when I went home, 'ayun, Agua.

“So, they’re very supportive, my parents, everything I do they’re there there as long as its good.”

DEMAI: “How about you, Jessy?

“No, really, very supportive ang mom ko. I remember, she used to go with me sa tapings, uhm, she would be my driver and my P.A., parehas.

“Uhm, 'ayun, very supportive siya in all aspects of my life.

“I mean, hindi niya rin ako nakakalimutan na sabihan tungkol sa mga guidelines niya with life, guidance niya, kung ano yung tama at mali sa tingin niya.

“Pero lagi niya akong sinasabihan na at the end of the day, it’s always my decision and anuman ang consequence or outcome ng decision na yun, I just have to chin up and go with it because that’s life.

“So, chin up!”

JESSY: “Oo alam niya. My dad kasi is a singer sa Lebanon.”

MATTEO: “So, magaling ka kumanta?”

JESSY: “'Ayun nga, e! Hindi ko nakuha yun.

“Alam niya, 'tapos from time to time, tinatawagan niya ako, yun kasi ang communication namin. 'Tapos mga twice a month or every two months sinasabihan niya ako, ‘How are you there? Are you doing your job well? Are you also studying at the same time? How’s life? Do you have a boyfriend?’ Normal stuff that you and your dad talk about.

“He’s also supportive and he likes my job. Because he also sees yung mga guestings ko, yung mga ginagawa ko on the Internet.

MATTEO: “Sa EDSA?”

JESSY: “Hindi, parang yun lang ang ano. Pero I can say na everyone’s very supportive with my career, ako lang talaga yung may ayaw noong una.

“I mean, there was a time na nalulungkot ako, wala akong father, wala yung father figure ko, walang tumutulong sa mom ko.

“Mahirap para sa akin, and being the boyish one in the family, tinry ko rin tumayo bilang tatay sa family. That’s why I chose to work, that’s why I chose to take care of them, because gusto ko rin maranasan nila na secure sila sa life.

“And my father naman wasn’t totally not there, e. I mean he’s there, he would always call us or sends us e-mails, communicate to us though Facebook, basta Internet ano.

“He finds ways.

“So, I guess, hindi ako nagtanim ng sama ng loob sa dad ko because I know he loves us very much naman.”

DEMAI: “But how young are you when your parents separated?”

JESSY: “Ah, I was three years old. The last time I saw him I was around six or seven years old.”

DEMAI: “So, hanggang ngayon hindi pa kayo nagmi-meet personally? Facebook and calls lang.”

JESSY: “Facebook and calls lang.”

DEMAI: “So, punta naman tayo sa ibang aspect ng career, ‘no. Kasi si Matteo, of course, ‘yong singing career.

MATTEO: “Noong movie namin ni Maja, My Cactus Heart…”

JESSY: “My Cactus Heart.”

MATTEO: “Ano gusto mo, cactus?”

JESSY: “Cactus na lang… Italian? Paano Italian?”

MATTEO: “My Cac-tus!

“No, but sa My Cactus Heart, they gave me the chance to sing all the songs there sa movie, the theme song and everything. So, I was very happy. Star Magic gave me like a digital release song.

“But right now, I’m not thinking of the album or anything yet because my full concentration nandito sa Paraiso, para sa soap na ‘to.

“So, people ask me na, 'What’s your next project?' I’m not thinking about anything else but this show, because it's very important for me.

“In this show, I really want to prove myself, na you know, I can be there, I belong here. So, I’m really excited for this show.”

DEMAI: “So, anong reaction mo do’n?”

MATTEO: “Bagay siya dun!”

JESSY: “Well, siyempre sino ba naman ayaw maging Darna? I mean, isa siya sa mga tinitingalaan ng mga Filipinos as a heroine, and gusto ko na ipakita yung fierce side ko. Hindi parating pa-girl, pa-sweet, kasi parati na lang nakikita, perception nila sa akin very mahinhin, very sweet, ganyan.

“I just want to show my athletic side also, my boyish side.

“If ever man na mag-Darna, wow!

“Pero if ever man, maganda yun, magandang opportunity yun as for my career also, as action star.”

MATTEO: “Song… sandali, ah…”

JESSY: “Ayusin mo, ha, mamaya 'Call Me Maybe' na naman ‘yan.”

MATTEO: “Ah, ito, [sings 'Can’t Help Falling In Love']”

JESSY: “Ah, [sings 'Call Me Maybe']”

DEMAI: “So, going back sa Paraiso, how is this going to be different from the other… Lalo na sa ibang PHR na series?”

JESSY: “Different siya sa ibang PHR series kasi ito first time, e, I mean tungkol ito sa dalawang tao na committed na sa iba, pero na-stranded sila sa isang island. So, hindi lang siya nagse-center sa life sa island, what happens next, after yung experience na na-stranded sila sa island.

“So, the story doesn’t end there sa isla, it actually just started there.

“So, yung journey ni Brenan and Yanie sa buong soap, kailangan nilang abangan.

MATTEO: “Yeah, like what she said also, just imagine two people that…like me, Brenan, I have a wife already, and then I get stranded with a woman sa isang isla for several months, and do they fall in love? What happens if they’ve been together for a long time and they become partners—do they fall in love?

“Does something happen? You know, it’s like you don’t want to fall in love but you fall in love. So, that’s what they’ll see here in Paraiso.”

DEMAI: “So, sa tingin n'yo ba, judging from sa mga na-shoot n'yo na, tingin n'yo ba ‘yong loveteam n'yo papatok? Kayo ba kinikilig sa sarili n'yo kapag napapanood n'yo mga eksena n'yo?”

MATTEO: “Sana...hindi ko alam. Sana talaga magustuhan nilang lahat, dahil like I said kanina, this project is very, very important for me.

“You know, uhm, I’m giving everything to this project, all the efforts, I’m putting all my time here, all my dedication, my concentration here.

“This is very different, and like what I said, I want to prove to everybody that I belong here, so I’m giving everything and I hope people will like it.”

JOCIE: “Could you promote now your show.”

DEMAI: “Invite our PEPsters to watch Paraiso.”

MATTEO: “PEPsters!”

JESSY: “Hi, PEPsters! Sana panoorin ninyo ang Precious Hearts Romances Presents…”

MATTEO and JESSY: “Paraiso!”

MATTEO: “Matt Evans, Jewel Misch…”

JESSY: “Juan Rodrigo, Evangeline Pascual, Bodjie Pascua, Ahron Villaflor, Ina Feleo, Paco Evangelista, maraming-marami pang iba.”

MATTEO: “Of course, it’s directed by Ms. Connie Macatuno, Rechie Del Carmen, and Nico Hernandez. November 5 po!”

JESSY: “Kapamilya Gold. Paraiso!”

DEMAI: “Thank you so much, Matteo and Jessy! Thank you so much, PEPsters! See you again sa susunod na episode ng PEP Talk!”
