There have been talks that their colleagues from Star Magic are trying to set up Piolo Pascual and Shaina Magdayao together. This was fuelled by the photos of two together which Shaina posted on her Instagram account. When Push.com.ph asked Piolo about those photos, he admitted that some people have been teasing them since ASAP’s concert tour in Singapore last month. “Nagsimula naman lahat ng lokohan sa Singapore eh. I guess after that, I have to be more careful para ‘di naman mapintasan or ma-judge. Kasi you know, wala lang.”
Although the two clearly have good rapport off cam, Piolo was a bit worried that the rumors might affect their friendship. But he’s glad that all is well between him and the young actress. “Nag-usap naman kami. Actually, tinext ko siya nung isang araw (November 22), tinanong ko siya about us. Sabi ko, ‘Okay naman tayo ‘di ba?’ I mean ang hirap sa showbiz, may judgment agad e. Pero we’re okay.”
Piolo also hoped that Shaina would agree to be part of Star Cinema’s upcoming movie OTJ (On The Job). He believes that the 23-year-old actress will be a good addition to the cast especially now that she’s more open to more mature roles. “Actually, sana tanggapin niya. It will also be very good for her as an artist kasi mature yung role. Mag-asawa kami dito. Hindi na bata si Shy. Si Angelica (Panganiban) ilang beses ko na rin naka-love team, halos magkalapit naman sila ng edad. So I guess bilang artista, maganda sana kung magagawa niya.”
Piolo couldn’t help but smile when Push.com.ph told him that there’s nothing wrong with being linked to Shaina since they’re both single. “Masamang prini-preempt yung mga bagay bagay e. Tsaka gusto ko protektahan si Shy. She deserves every respect that she can get from people and from this business. She's a fine lady.” Asked if there’s a possibility that he’d fall for Shaina, he simply replied, “You know, ang showbiz kapag sasabihin ko oo o hindi. Tignan na lang natin.”
In the meantime, Piolo is excited to start shooting OTJ because it’s not a typical action film. He described the plot as “dark and edgy,” which makes it a perfect venue for him and the rest of the cast to showcase their acting chops. “Sobrang three years in the making ito. Ang daming pinuntahang artista, ang daming pinuntahang producer, and finally Tita Malou Santos agreed to co-produce it with direk Erik Matti's production outfit. Now that Gerald (Anderson) is on board, I’m excited kasi yung three years na hinihintay ko, at least it’s all worth it.”
Piolo added that it would be nice to work with Gerald because he knows that the latter has grown to be a good actor. “He’s very sensitive. I saw Budoy a couple of times and it made me cry a couple of times. I admire the guy for his professionalism. Seryoso siya sa craft niya. Malaki respeto ko sa kanya.”
