For Kris Aquino, working with good friends Vice Ganda and Ai Ai Delas Alas made doing Sisterakas an enjoyable film. When it comes to their personal lives, she admits she is hands off with her friends’ current relationships. “Hindi ako nakikialam. My god, wala akong karapatan makialam sa kanila at hindi naman nila ako kini-kuwentuhan dahil feeling naman nila, anong ma-ko-contribute ko? eh sila naman maliligaya (laughs),” she says. The Sisterakas actress says she is not jealous that she is the only single one in their group at the moment. “Wala lang, tahimik lang ako. Kasi sila madalas may mga nagsusundo, dumadalaw (sa set). Eh di wala, kawawa lang ako (laughs). Okay lang. huwag na, okay lang. Deadma (laughs),” she adds.
Although she is admittedly not on good terms with ex-spouse James Yap at the moment, this does not means she is turning her back on love. “Hindi naman sa ayaw ko, hindi lang ata siguro suwerte and siguro hindi handa ang mga anak, most especially Bimb, kasi parang ano talaga siya, affected at na-ha-heartbroken siya pag ganun and dito sa Sisterakas tuwang tuwa siya kasi walang ka-loveteam, walang ka-eksena. Mali rin ako kasi nanuod siya nung taping namin ng Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw, nakita niya and yung napanuod niyang scene kasi was a 15th wedding anniversary scene na obviously may halik. Hindi niya na-get over talaga. Kasi ang bukang bibig niya, ‘Mama, I really hate Robin Padilla because he’s stealing you from me.’ Tapos talagang inulit niya yan sa lahat pati kay Tito Noy, sa lahat. lahat sinabihan niya na, ‘Mama kissed Robin Padilla.’ Sabi ko, okay so hindi niya type,” she shares.
The 41-year-old actress says her co-star Robin tried his best to appease the little boy after the incident. “Sabi niya, ‘Bimb, it was just acting. It’s not real life.’ Napapa-english siya. Tapos nag-suntukan na lang sila. Sabi ni Robin, ‘Go ahead, suntukin mo ako.’ (laughs)” she recalls.
And despite their numerous trips abroad, Kris says she has accepted the fact that she probably won’t find anyone there as well. “Hindi eh. Kasi parati kong kasama yung mga anak ko. Sabi ni Boy, hindi ko daw mami-meet. Sabi niya, ‘The only way you’ll meet anybody is if you travel alone.’ So baka naman at some point I can travel alone. Pero huwag na, okay lang kahit hindi.”
Kris says that her heart is very much at peace right now. “Honestly, may kapayapaan talaga sa puso ko. Wala akong mga init ulo at tantrums. I feel very blessed and very grateful kahit na 6am ako natutulog minsan talaga galing sa trabaho. Sinasabi ko, ‘Salamat God na binigyan mo ako ng ganito kadaming trabaho na pinupuyat mo ako ng ganito. At least pag uwi ko walang nagagalit sa akin na ganitong oras ako umuuwi.”
As she plays the role of the ambitious and overpowering Roselle in the Star Cinema MMFF film Sisterakas, Kris Aquino admits that her youngest son Bimby thought she was playing an otherworldly role in the comedy film. “Sinabihan ako ni Bimb, ‘Mom, you look like a wicked witch‘ so sabi ko, ‘That’s the role Honey,’ she shares. Kris admits she agreed to play that kind of character as long as it had a redeeming value. “Ang hiningi ko lang kasi, sabi ko sana may remorse at sana makita kung bakit nagkaganun yung pagkatao ko. I didn’t want naman to be evil just for the sake of being evil tapos hiningi ko na sana yung character na Roselle dun sa end, lumabas naman yung hero within her at magpakabait siya at magpakumbaba,” she explains.
For the movie, Kris admits she had to wear almost two dozen fake eyelashes for Roselle’s flamboyant character. “Kasi ang nangyari was that nag-shoot ako ng TV commerican tapos nadaan ako tapos nakita ko yung Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura. Nakita ko yung display ng iba’t ibang eyelashes so sinabi ko nay an ang magiging itsura ko dito. Na bawat eksena ibang lashes ang isusuot ko. tapos pinagsisisihan ko dahil hilonh-hilo na ako sa kakasuot ng lashes kasi minsan six scenes ang ishu-shoot ko in one day, six na palit yung tapos pag makapal na makapal na may kulay, parang lahat ng bagay parang nahi-hilo hilo ka na. pero masaya ka naman. Kasi binilang namin yung damit, 22 outfit changes eh, so 22 lashes din yun,” she admits.
The Sisterakas star admits that doing the comedy flick which she already passed on because of scheduling conflicts was an added challenge for her. In between shooting the movie, she had to juggle her hosting duties on Kris TV, taping a new soap with Robin Padilla as well as her other showbiz commitments. “Hindi ko talaga alam, bahala na. Basta inenjoy ko ito kasi medyo may insanity na nga na nagaganap kasi Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday nagpapatawa ako. Monday nag-ho-host ako, may taping ako pati Sunday. Tapos Wednsday at Friday nag-da-drama naman ako para sa teleserye. So parang chinallenge ng bonggang bongga ang buong pagkatao ko,” she admits.
