IT’S a non-working holiday today in Navotas City as the world’s fishing capital celebrates its 106th founding anniversary themed “Kulturang Navoteño, Buhayin, Linangin at Paunlarin, Navotas, Navotaas!”
Mayor John Rey Tiangco said a grand parade will pass through the city’s main streets, participated in by local officials and employees, police, non-government organizations, schools, and religious and civic groups.
Popular showbiz personalities like Jennilyn Mercado, Xian Lim, Sam Pinto, Via Antonio (Dora Chikadora), Mutya Orquia, Bugoy Cariño, Bea Binene, Jake Vargas, Zia Quizon, Angeline Quinto, Rico the Magician, Itchyworms, Vina Morales and more will add glitter to the occasion.
The week-long celebration, known as the Pangisdaan Festival, kicked off with an ecumenical service and motorcade. Other highlight include the tiangge and jobs fair, dance competitions, free medical and dental services, and the coronation of Mutya ng Navotas.
