International Filipino singing sensation Charice Pempengco is set to launch a concert tour in support of her “Infinity” album.
According to the website charicemania.com, the tour will kick off in Dubai, March 2 -- the first concert in the region for the singer since 2010.
The Dubai gig will be followed by stops in Singapore, March 5; Jakarta, March 7; Philippines, March 9; Hong Kong, March 19; and Korea, March 21.
“Infinity” (stylized on her album as the symbol ∞), released by Warner Records, is her second international studio album and fifth overall. Singles released from the album include “Louder,” “One Day,” “Far as the Sky,” which was chosen as theme of the Japanese drama, “Bull Doctor;” and "New World." The biggest hit off the album is "Before It Explodes" written by Filipino-American singer and composer Bruno Mars.
Charice rose to fame via YouTube after an avid supporter started posting a series of her performance videos on the site. A meeting with Oprah Winfrey, who subsequently named her the “Most talented girl in the world,” allowed her to gain more ground with her international eponymous debut, which was released in 2010 and entered the Billboard 200 at number eight. The feat made her the first Asian singer in history to grab a spot in the Top 10 of the prestigious chart.
Under the tutelage of pianist-producer-songwriter, David Foster, Pempengco was able to reach new heights performing alongside other name artists such as Michael Bublé, Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, and Josh Groban.
Pempengco had appeared in the movie "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel." She also had a guest role in the hit American TV series "Glee." She is also reportedly among cast members of the upcoming Sony Films feature, “Here Comes the Boom.”
