Now that his hit drama series Budoy has ended, Gerald Anderson is preparing to leave for the US for a series of shows as part of Star Magic’s 20th anniversary celebration. The 23-year-old actor said he is excited about the trip which will also mean he will be nearer to his family in the US. I’m really hoping na sana matuloy,” he shared.
Gerald said he will definitely have some downtime after coming back to the country by the second week of April. “Wala pang teleserye.
After playing a mentally-challenged character in Budoy, Gerald said he can confidently say that his acting skills have definitely been honed. “Siyempre malaki naman yung improvement over the years. Ganun talaga eh. I can’t call myself a good actor. Mahirap talaga to work as an actor kasi gumaganap ka ng ibang tao and ang pinaka-importante for me is yung technique,” he explained.
Gerald said he felt pressured with his first solo lead role in a primetime series. He said he wanted to prove to the management that he could deliver the role of Budoy effectively. “Nung simula siyempre nahirapan ako dahil sa pressure, dahil tinatanong ko yung sarili ko na, ‘Heto na, kaya mo ba?’ so ang iniisip ko na is yung mga positive side of things na sinasabi ko sa sarili ko na kaya ko and sa awa ng Diyos naging okay naman,” he said.
The Budoy star considers the series as his biggest accomplishment in showbiz to date because he proved that he could do more than just be part of a successful love team. “Napakalaking milestone nito, napakalaking stepping stone yan para sa akin dahil mas nakilala na ako as an actor instead of as a leading man or part of a love team so yun yung isa pa sa mga goals ko,” he shared.
