After her primetime TV series "My BInondo Girl," Kim Chiu is back on the small screen via a special episode on the drama series, "Maalaala Mo Kaya."
Chiu said she will be playing a blind woman who has a brain tumor.
"It's a challenging role to for me. Panibagong role, bulag siya, may brain tumor siya, and exciting itong project na 'to kasi sobrang kakaiba and bago," said Chiu, who added that she missed appearing on TV."After 'Binondo Girl,' now I have this challenging role and sana magustuhan ng mga tao."
To prepare for her role, Chiu said she researched on people with brain tumors on the Internet and watched videos on YouTube.
She also managed to meet the actual woman, whose life story inspired the episode.
"Nung time na 'yun hindi ko alam na gagawin ko yung 'MMK' ...Nagpa-picture lang siya sa 'ASAP.' Nung binigay ng 'MMK' 'yung script sa akin, sabi ko, ‘Nakita ko sila nung last Sunday!’ at parang naawa kasi ako. Andun siya sa 'ASAP' para makinig, kasi hindi siya nakakakita," Chiu shared.
Because of the 'MMK' episode, which will air next week, Chiu said she realized that one has to be grateful for the blessings one has.
"Dapat makuntento ka sa kung anong meron ka dahil a lot of people, like 'yung ginanap ko sa 'MMK,' ang hirap ng buhay niya and parang nandoon pa rin siya, nag-strive hard, na may tiwala sa Diyos," she said.
"Hindi madali 'yung pinagdadaanan nila (taong may kapansanan). Sobrang hirap, sobrang lalim at kailangan talaga ng faith and tiwala sa sarili," she added.
Family dinner with Xian
Meanwhile, Chiu clarified the report that her "My Binondo Girl" co-star Xian Lim had dinner with her family.
Chiu, who is currently being romantically linked to Lim, said it was her relatives who wanted to meet Lim.
"May time na nandito yung mga uncles ko, aunties, lola, 'yung buong family ko sa Cebu, pumunta sila dito (Manila). Tapos nag-dinner kami and parang sabi nila gusto nila ma-meet si Xian," Chiu narrated.
"So tinanong ko siya kung available siya (Lim) that night. Tapos sabi niyo oo, gusto niya makilala. Sabi ko, 'Hindi ka talaga nahiya? Oo talaga?' Tapos sabi niya, 'Oo gusto ko sila makilala.”
"So nagkita sila, nag-dinner kami and 'yun nakakwentuhan nila si xian and nakilala nila," she said.
But Chiu stressed that it wasn't a formal introduction.
"Dinner lang 'yun and gusto siya makilala ng mga relatives ko, nagkataon lang. Happy 'yung family ko na na-meet siya," she said.
Chiu reiterated that she and Lim are just "good friends."

I believed the feelings are mutual for both of them although they're not saying it. Like a saying, actions speak louder than words. They liked each other so much, the way i see it. They are the most romantic couple so far that i've seen on television and i believed would be in real life. Ala Robin & Mariel.
