In her continued quest to complete her identity, young singer Angeline Quinto admitted that she's bewildered over the incongruous statements of her father, Pop Quiros, and a certain Veronica Tolentino, who claims to be her biological mother.
The Kapamilya star turned emotional on "The Buzz" in relating how important it is for her to find her real mom, and how, in spite of the many blessings she's been receiving, the answers to her long-time questions still seem elusive.
[Pero] hindi po ako bibitaw," she told host Boy Abunda in an interview aired June 24.
Angeline met Veronica for the first time on June 22 when they, together with the former's father, underwent a DNA test at an undisclosed hospital. The singer and budding actress' adoptive mother, Sylvia "Mama Bab" Quinto (her father's aunt), was not with them during the procedure.
Veronica's version
Veronica claims that Angeline was about three to five years old when they got separated, not because she sold her and her younger brother for P10,000—as what Angeline has grown to know from her family—but due to an illness she had which hindered her from claiming her children from a certain "Jun" to whom she entrusted them.
"The Buzz" staff showed Veronica some of Angeline's photos while growing up which Pop had brought as proof that Angeline was under their wings even when she was still a baby.
Though Veronica asserted that Angeline is not the baby in the photos, she nevertheless singled out a photo of a little Angeline dressed in what looks like a T-shirt and jumper, exclaiming, "Eto ako bumili nito, itong damit na 'to. Sa SM ko binili. Ganito na siya kalaki nung maghiwalay kami." (Angeline later on affirmed in her interview that she's the girl in the photos.)
Meeting the first "Star Power" champ for the first time was an emotional yet happy moment for Veronica, as she's a hundred percent certain that Angeline is indeed her daughter. Directing to the latter, Veronica said:
"Angeline salamat binigyan mo ako ng atensyon… Kasi nayakap kita, nahalikan kita.
Pop's oppositions
Angeline's father is sure that Veronica is not the former's biological mother, but a certain Rosemarie Mabao, whom he lost communication with since "kay Rudy, sa bunso[ng anak]," he said.

The 22-year-old singer was still in her mother's womb when the agreement of her adoption was sealed, Pop said. Even so, he insisted that Angeline was never separated from him, only that she is in the care of Mama Bab.
On Veronica's claims, Pop blatantly said, "Parang may nagtuturo sa kanya eh."
He went on to relate details that prompted him to think so:
"Kasi nung pagkasabi niya, sabi niya taga-Pangasinan daw.
Pop added that Angeline was born at Fabella Hospital in Manila.
Running through Angeline's mind
Angeline admitted that she sympathizes with Veronica, acknowledging that that latter has been wishing to see her long lost children. Although she has an intuitive feeling about her supposed biological mother, Angeline seemingly had to suppress the emotion because "'yung tatay ko po nandun din kanina…
She recalled how her first conversation with Veronica went.
Angeline supposed that Veronica might be referring to her youngest brother, Rudy, who is currently in Las Piñas.
She likewise confirmed having seen the baptismal certificate as well as the birth certificate that Veronica had taken with her for their meeting.
As for her father's speculation that Veronica is merely following a "script," Angeline believes otherwise.
"Never pong pumasok sa isip ko 'yan eh. Basta nung napanood ko 'yung interview ni Aling Veronica sa 'The Buzz,' naramdaman ko naman po na talagang seryoso [siya]," said she.
If, for some apparently wild turn of events, the DNA test would show that Pop is not her real father—which Angeline admitted to have crossed her mind—she said, "[maiisip] ko [na] ang lahat ng pamilyang nakilala ko simula nung pagkabata ko, hindi ko tunay na kamag-anak.
Nevertheless, Angeline is ready to accept whatever the results would be, which would be out in about a week.
In other news
Meanwhile, Angeline took the opportunity in the same "Buzz" interview to apologize to the Kapamilya fans in Chicago who watched the "Pinoy Champs" US tour concert she did with Yeng Constantino, Marcelito Pomoy, and Jovit Baldivino, following a letter that the ABS-CBN management got from an individual who alleged that Angeline solicited donations from the audience for additional funding for the house she's building.
Angeline, known for her playful banters, explained that during shows, she tends to joke to her audience that she's open to receive advance gifts from them "kahit November pa 'yung birthday ko." She recalled that it was the first time, in the Chicago show, that she did the act with a glass which would be passed among the concert goers, and on which they could put their donations.
She acknowledged that it was a mistake that she failed to inform the audience right away about the proceeds of their donations "na hindi po talaga para sa'kin." She then apologized to the show's director, as well as to the audience later on, about the blunder, and told them that she would, indeed, turn over the collected sum ($31 according to Angeline) to the Bantay Bata Foundation.
Before her taped interview, Angeline said that she has already personally given the donation to the kids of Bantay Bata.
