Actor Paulo Avelino admitted that his co-star in top-rating series "Walang Hanggan" Coco Martin is among the actors he idolizes.
Avelino said he sees Martin as "one of the greatest actors today."
"He will always be one of the artists that I idolize,” Avelino said.
Avelino plays Nathan, the nemesis of Daniel, portrayed by Martin, on the primetime soap.
The two actors now also share another distinction of being named the best among their peers in showbiz.
In the recent 35th Gawad Urian Awards, Avelino was named best actor for his role in the independent film "Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa."
Martin has three Urian best actor awards: he won in 2008 for "Tambolista," in 2009 for "Daybreak" and 2010 for "Kinatay." The Urian also named Martin "Actor of the Decade" last year.
“Winning an Urian is indeed a huge milestone. It has always been a dream to be recognized by such a prestigious award-giving body, but I never thought that God will give me this blessing this early. That is why I am very thankful to Him," Avelino said.
Martin, whose roles in various independent films catapulted him to mainstream stardom, is also very helpful to his co-actors on the set of "Walang Hanggan," Avelino revealed.
“Coco is great to work with. He is always ready to help his co-actors during our tapings so we’ll have better scenes," Avelino said.
Meanwhile, Martin will grace the July 2012 cover of entertainment magazine StarStudio, where his accomplishments as an actor will be chronicled.
The issue also features the actor's first tell-all interview, recounting his life leading up to his "Walang Hanggan" success.
Airing weeknights during ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block, "Walang Hanggan" also stars Julia Montes, Richard Gomez, Dawn Zulueta, Helen Gamboa and Susan Roces.
It is directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng, Trina Dayrit and Jojo Saguin.
