Piolo Pascual has revealed talking to TV5 about a possible transfer sometime ago.
The actor made the disclosure in an interview with YES! Magazine, intimating that he informed Star Magic executives Johnny Manahan and Mariole Alberto about it. He chose to stay with the Kapamilya network because he felt that it allows him more protection, career-wise.
Last year, rumors swirled that Pascual was planning to jump ship to another network, presumably TV5. The actor repeatedly denied the reports, insisting that he is happy with ABS-CBN. The rumors re-emerged when actress KC Concepcion, another prized talent of ABS-CBN, made public their split late last year.
Meanwhile, Pascual's nephew, model Bejamin Alves received a rousing welcome in a recent episode of "Party Pilipinas," where it was announced that he had signed a contract with GMA-7.
According to a report on GMA News, Alves will now be among the main hosts of "Party Pilipinas." He is also set to work on a TV soap opera and at least three movies, beginning with the horror-suspense, "Guni-Guni," starring Lovi Poe.
In an interview with "Chika Minute," the 23- year-old upstart said he is ready for comparisons with his famous uncle.
"Piolo is Piolo," he said. "It is humbling to be compared to someone like him especially 'cause he's family, but you can't avoid it, it's there."
It is Alvez' second crack at a showbiz career. In 2008, he was introduced as Vince SaldaƱa, appearing on ABS-CBN's reality model-search competition "Close-Up to Fame" where he became a finalist. This earned him a contract with Viva Films, which cast him in several support roles in such films as "Ang Cute Ng Ina Mo" and "Apat Dapat, Dapat Apat."
Alves left the country for Guam in 2009 in order to finish his studies. He graduated Summa Cum Laude at the University of Guam with a degree in English Literature.
