Teen Sensation Gerald Anderson had only three days in London. On the first day when he arrived, he was able to shop briefly with his manager, Mr. Johnny Manahan.
Then, he watched the famous Broadway musicale "Ghost" with us. The second day was our show in Lampton Park, Houslow where an estimated 65,000 people attended.
And so on his last day while we were all busy with day 2 of the London Barrio Fiesta, he took this chance to shop by himself in Westfield London Mall where all the name brands all over the world had stores.
I have a feeling this is also where he bought his "secret" pasalubong, maybe even the "secret" birthday gift for Sarah since it was indeed the very first time he had the opportunity to be by himself. I would say secret because I was not able to get a confirmation from him if he indeed bought a gift for Sarah there.
With several bags in tow, Gerald was waiting for his bus in the Westfield bus stop when he decided to just check on the time in his watch. To his horror, his Rolex watch was already in his fingers with a black hand assisting its release.
He looked at the colored man who was trying to snatch his watch who was bigger and taller than him. The actor guessed it was his guardian angel that made him check the time because according to him, the snatcher was so good because he did feel his watch's lock dislodged and the man's hand slowly assisting it out of his hand.
Gerald felt the man's accomplice edging him on his other side. Upon locking eyes with his Rolex snatcher, the colored man and his accomplice decided to leave Gerald alone with his watch intact.
It was 6 p.m., summertime in London so the sun was still out and it was very bright. London is also known to be a very safe city with CCTV cameras located in every corner and policemen deployed in every street.
I asked Gerald what would happen if the men did snatch his Rolex, "Hahabulin ko talaga sila!"
Looking at his Rolex watch, I would estimate that it costs around R800,000 to a million. But Gege, if you run after the snatchers, you would leave behind the precious gift you bought for Sarah.
