After being nominated in the 52nd Festival de Television de Monte Carlo last June for her role in The Kitchen Musical, Karylle shares she had an unforgettable experience at the prestigious event in Europe which she attended with her dad. “It was great. Kasi event yun ng prince nila yun. it was tradition from his dad pa. Ang saya. I went with my dad. It was our bonding session. We haven’t taken a lot of trips together kasi ayaw niya yung mga ibang pinupuntahan ko. Inaabangan niya talaga yung Europe and I think we’ll be back there for a concert tour so inaayos na yun. Probably at the end of the year or in January,” she says. The It’s Showtime host also got to meet some of her Pinoy fans while she was there as well. “Ang sweet nga ng mga Pinoy dun ha. Nag-bbq pa kami tapos it was my dad’s birthday so they had a cake for him and everything so it was like we had a party for him there,” she recalls.
For the Monte Carlo event, there were reports that Karylle wore jewelry amounting to to P6M which the singer-actress refuses to comment on. “Basta it’s from Miladay’s Bollywood collection. Magarbo siya. Nung una sabi ko paano ko kaya ito dadalhin pero yun, inalagan ko nalang,” she divulges. According to her jewelry sponsor the earrings were composed of 676 diamonds totaling 7.10 carats and the necklace was made of 3,468 diamonds of 38.54 carats. Miladay also said that both pieces were made of diamonds in the brilliant and baguette cut.
The 31-year-old host adds she will never forget being able to socialize with celebrities and European royalty. “I don’t know what that feeling was but I kept asking my dad what are we doing here and then everyone was so nice. Everyone was so friendly. You get to shake hands with the prince. Pinakilala ko lang sarili ko kay Ted Danson. Kinantahan ko pa siya ng song from Three Men and a Baby so yun at least feeling ko nagawa ko yung, ‘Good evening sir, I’d like to introduce myself’ Nagawa ko talaga yun and it’s something else, it’s something new and wala, sana madugtungan pa, masundan pa. it just makes you feel na ang dami nga palang actors and actresses all over the world. You share that same love and it’s just really inspiring being there. Parang I want to do so many things! Ano bang gagawin ko pag-uwi ko.”
With her celebrity lineage and being one of the most visible faces in the Kapamilya network, Karylle says she has learned to live in front of the limelight. “Sabi ko it’s really hard when anak ka ng artista. Kasi we’ve seen the good and bad of things eh. So it’s hard for us to willingly step into the spotlight kasi alam namin yung mga kakabit nun eh. And it was only when I learned about family healing and hindi naman necessarily magiging masama ang success in showbiz, hanggang sa naisapuso ko yun, dun ko lang talaga siya minahal. Kasi before nakakatakot. Ang equation ko before was if your successful in showbiz, your family life will suffer and it was really what I truly believed. Siyempre I was six years old when my parents separated di ba so talagang nak-ingrain yun sa puso ko. Nung natanggal ko yun, I did the family healing, dun siyaunti-unting nawala. Pero it was a long process. Matagal,” she admits.
