Young actress Kathryn Bernardo maintains that her onscreen partnership with Daniel Padilla has not translated to a real life love story.
While she clarified that she has not reached a "mutual understanding" stage with Daniel, she did not deny that the young singer-actor is a "very special friend" to her.
"Siguro masasabi ko na pinaka-best friend ko si DJ (Daniel's nickname). Lahat sila close ko, pero sa mga guys na parating nandiyan at aalagaan ka, siya 'yun..." she related.
Daniel has been vocal about his admiration for Kathryn-a gesture the latter really appreciates.
"Nakakatuwa kasi nakikita mo kay DJ na hindi naman siya 'yung nambobola. Nakikita naman natin na sincere naman siya, so ako naman siyempre bilang babae nakaka-flatter na may naga-admire sa 'yo na lalaki at nakikita mo na tini-treat ka niya nang maayos. Parang respeto rin sa akin 'yon..." said she.
She deems that contrary to the "chick boy" impression that some may have of the Padillas, they are "very caring."
"Parang panlabas lang 'yung hard type, pero 'pag nakilala mo very mabait talaga sila," she enthused. But the star of ABS-CBN's primetime series "Princess and I" emphasized that her work remains as her priority now.
Daniel is the son of actor Rommel Padilla to actress Carla Estrada, and is the nephew of action star Robin Padilla.
A magical time
Meanwhile, Kathryn's fellow Kapamilya talent, Erich Gonzales, plays it coy when asked to divulge details about her love life-following her previous admission that she's dating a non-showbiz guy.
"Okay naman. I'm very happy with everything that's going on sa buhay ko," she said in a separate interview.
Erich sounded more enthusiastic when the topic shifted to her movie with Thai actor Mario Maurer, "Suddenly It's Magic." Shooting for the film, with locations such as Thailand and Ilocos, proved to be a memorable experience for the 21-year-old "Star Circle National Teen Quest" winner.
"Very playful and... okay kaming lahat sa set. Kasama ko po sa Thailand si Ate Joy Viado so siya 'yung nagdadala ng comic relief," she enthused.
She has also met Mario's long-time girlfriend, Sumontip Leuangthai, better known as Gubgib, when she visited and brought food for them on the Thai set.
"She's such a sweetheart, I love Gubgib," she gushed.
