As she celebrates her 50th year in show business, Vilma Santos admits she is happy with the positive reviews of her Star Cinema film The Healing, which opened last week in more than 100 theaters nationwide. “I’m happy. I’m honored in a way kasi nilambing ko nga it okay Direk Chito Roño. So ang maganda lang, talagang ginawan niya ng paraan na for three years, ibig sabihin hindi niya ako basta-basta binigyan ng movie. Talagang hinanap din niya yung project na babagay sa akin and the good news is ung innilapit naman nila sa Star Cinema ay approved naman even if hindi siya drama na siyempre ang forte ko drama pero if something new na ibibigay kay Vi. The good news is tinanggap ng Star Cinema so maybe they believed in the project also which is good,” she says.
With regards to her family life, Ate Vi shares she is happy and content. The Batangas governor also says she is supportive if ever Luis pushes through with joining the mayoral race next year in Lipa. “Hindi ko naman ini-encourage si Lucky, kasi at the end of the day it’s not our decision. It will be his decision. If he thinks he’s prepared or gusto niya for a change na magsilbi, why not? Sino kami para tumanggi? We’re here to support him. Pero kung sa tingin niya hindi pa siya nadadapat, then I guess hindi na rin muna dapat. So decision yun ni Lucky, hindi namin decision.”
Ate Vi is proud of how Luis has worked his way up in showbiz through his own merits. “Si Lucky is doing very well. Isang anak ko na very independent na kung saan man siya ngayon, hindi niya kami ginamit ni Edu. Kanyang trabaho yan, ni minsan hindi niyo narinig niyan na nanay ko si Vilma or tatay ko si Edu. Lahat yan nag-umpisa siya as a disc jockey so he started mababa, na kung anong meron siyia ngayon, yan ay trinabaho niya and for that I am very, very proud of Lucky. Marunong sa buhay, alam niya kung saan niya dadalhin ang pera niya. That’s one thing. Yun lang naman dinadasal ko, yung guidance sa mga anak ko,” she adds.
The veteran actress also says she has no objections if ever Luis plans to take his relationship with Jennylyn Mercado to the next level. “Walang problema sa akin yun as long as masaya ang anak ko. I guess being the nanay of Lucky, ang priority mo ay makitang masaya ang anak mo at kung nakikita kong masaya siya kay Jen, walang problema. All the way we will support him. Kung saan siya masaya at kung saan sa tingin niya siya liligaya.”
