Bumisita ang PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa set ng upcoming film na A Secret Affair, kahapon, Setyembre 13, sa Opus, Resorts World Manila, Pasay City.
Ang pelikulang ito ng Viva Films, na idinidirehe ni Nuel Naval, ay may dating working title na Nothing Compares To You.
Saktong nadatnan naming kinukunan ang isang eksena sa club kunsaan magkakasama ang mga bida ng pelikula na sina Anne Curtis, Andi Eigenmann, at Derek Ramsay.
Pagkatapos ng eksena ay nakausap ng PEP at ilan pang miyembro ng media si Derek. Kinumusta namin sa kanya ang kanilang shooting.
Sagot niya, “A... good. Ito, medyo puyat, three days straight na.
"Marami na kaming mga nagawang eksena and it’s looking good, you know?”
Noong isang taon ay napanood si Derek bilang adulterer sa blockbuster hit na No Other Woman, kunsaan nakasama niya sina Anne at Cristine Reyes.
May pagkakahawig ang role niya doon sa ginagampanan niyang karakter dito sa A Secret Affair.
Paglalarawan niya, “Sa umpisa, playboy ako dito.
"But like any other playboy, they can fall in love. And I do.
"And I get hit hard by Anne’s character.
“I fall in love with her and, you know, wants to get married with her.
“Si Andi naman, I get involved with Andi before I meet Anne.
"And [in the movie,] Andi and Anne are good friends. So, there’s a lot of drama.”
WORKING WITH ANNE AND ANDI. Kung sa No Other Woman ay ginampanan ni Anne ang role ng isang mistress, dito sa A Secret Affair ay siya naman ang totoong girlfriend at si Andi ang other woman.
Ayon kay Derek, mas kumportable na siya ngayon sa kanyang pakikipagtrabaho kay Anne.
“Madali namang katrabaho si Anne. She’s always a professional...
“It’s just like we picked off from No Other Woman… she’s so easy to work with and the chemistry’s still there."
Ito naman ang unang pagkakataon na nakatrabaho niya si Andi.
Kuwento ni Derek, “Andi, I’ve never worked with before.
"Pero after the first day—andito yung first day namin, e— kissing scene na agad, flirting scene.
“After that day, wala na.
"Wala na yung kaba, wala na yung worry na baka hindi na kami mag-click.”
Hanga raw si Derek sa kakayahan ni Andi sa pag-arte.
“She’s everybody what she says she is—she’s a very talented, young actress.
“Everyone’s used to seeing her as this innocent little angel.
"But her role here is, wow, talagang napakahirap! She’s totally different from her character.
"But so far, she’s effective.
“Nararamdaman ko talage yung presence niya every time… alam mo, Eigenmann siya talaga.”
Kabilang si Andi sa pamosong Eigenmann clan na kinabibilangan ng ilan sa pinakamahuhusay na artista sa bansa. Bukod sa ama niyang si Mark, kamag-anak din niya sina Cherie Gil, Michael de Mesa, Ryan Eigenmann, at Sid Lucero.
Ang ina ni Andi ay ang award-winning actress na si Jaclyn Jose.
PLAYBOY CHARACTER. Dahil papel ng isang babaero na naman ang ginagampanan ni Derek sa bago niyang pelikula, tinanong ang aktor kung hindi ba siya nag-aalalang ma-typecast o mahusgahang "playboy" sa totoong buhay.
Sagot niya, “I’m acting and the viewers are smart enough to know that that’s what we’re doing.”
Nabanggit din niya na parang nauuso ngayon ang mga pelikulang tumatalakay sa extra-marital affairs.
“Lahat nga ng pelikula parang [tungkol sa] affair, e, 'no?
“But I think that’s what people want to see because a lot of people can relate.
"It does happen in real life, sad to say.”
Nang binasa raw ni Derek ang script ng A Secret Affair ay nagustuhan niya ito agad.
Sinabi niya raw sa kanyang sarili: “I’m going to do it and I’m here to do it to the best of my capabilities.”
Hindi rin daw siya nag-aalalang ma-typecast na "playboy."
Paliwanag ni Derek, “I don’t think anyone’s going to typecast me as a playboy in real life.
"I already am, I think.
“There’s nothing I can do about that. I’ve had that problem since high school.
"But like I said, it doesn’t affect me.
“I’m here to do my work and hopefully it gets success as No Other Woman and Praybeyt Benjamin.
“Bonus na yun if we surpass that. We’re here to do a good film.”
Ang No Other Woman at Praybeyt Benjamin ang dalawa sa biggest hits sa takilya noong isang taon, at masuwerteng kasama si Derek sa parehong pelikula.
Ang Praybeyt Benjamin, na pinagbidahan ni Vice Ganda, ang kasalukuyang may hawak ng record bilang highest-grossing Filipino film of all time.
FRISBEE. Apat na buwan na ang nakalilipas mula nang maghiwalay sina Derek at Angelica Panganiban pagkatapos ng anim na taong relasyon.
Nang tanungin kung kamusta na siya, natawa nang malakas ang aktor.
Wika nito, “I’m very good. Lagi na lang tinatanong!

Nakatakdang umalis si Derek ngayong araw, September 14, papuntang Singapore, kasama ang Smart-TV5 National Frisbee team.
Matapos manalo noong July 2012 sa13th World Ulitimate and Guts Championship sa Japan, lalaban naman sa sila sa Singapore Open.
Ayon kay Derek, “I’m representing the country again, but this time I won’t be playing as much. I’ll be taking a coaching office…
“I have responsibility to that team.
"I’m sure we’ll finish in the top three.”
Sa nakaraang laban nila sa Japan ay naging 7th place ang team nina Derek.
Saad ng actor-athlete, “It’s one of the objectives of the team—to dominate South East Asia this year.
"We did very well in the World Championships in Japan…
“So our goal is to win Singapore, win Shanghai, and maybe Hong Kong and Australia.”
AMAZING RACE. Naikuwento rin ni Derek na tapos na ang taping nila para sa Amazing Race Philippines, isang international reality show franchise na ipalalabas sa TV5.
"It’s all done. We’re actually just… kasi there’s so much material.
"We’ve done shooting it already and hopefully it will be out either end of October or November... latest, November.
“But ang daming material.
"What people don’t know is that nagawa namin, e. So when we start, kailangan tuluy-tuloy.”
Binanggit din ni Derek na naging busy siya nitong mga nakaraang buwan.
“I’ve been living out of a suitcase for three and a half months…
“It’s been a tiring couple of months from here.
