Iza Calzado is excited about her second Maalaala Mo Kaya episode that will air on Saturday, September 16 on ABS-CBN. Unlike her first MMK episode, the main focus of this coming episode will be on Iza’s character, who plays a medical doctor suffering major depression due to painful events in her life.
Iza described her character in the upcoming episode. “Kukuwestyunin ng tao ang kakayanan niya, ‘yung kredibildad niya bilang doktor na siyang magiging motivation n’ya para gamutin ang sarili niya at ipaglaban kung ano talaga ang sakit niya. Kasi mami-misdiagnose pa siya, sasabihin na bipolar siya. Ipaglalaban niya na she went through depression and she can still help people.”
The actress continued that her role is close to home because her mom had depression. “When I was young, when she was still alive, she was actually bipolar so it’s a very personal story for me. Kaya siguro ‘yan ang kinamulatan ko, naiintindihan ko siya,” she shared.
She added that people with this condition should have a good support system so they can handle their situation better. “I do not think people who go through this [condition] are insane. I cannot call them that because I could be called insane because I may be a little weird sometimes.”
Iza is also glad to have Bembol Roco as a co-star in the MMK episode. She said that having a great co-actor is a big help so that she can be motivated in the scenes.
Since this is Iza’s second episode, she is simply grateful for another opportunity to be part of a respected show. “I’m even more excited now, mas challenging ang role, mas kinakabahan din ako dahil di ko alam ang turnout.”
