Shortly after he exited "Pinoy Big Brother," Sam Milby was romantically linked to the reality TV show's host, Toni Gonzaga. But like his stay in the country's most famous house, the Kapamilya actor's blooming romance with Gonzaga was also short-lived.
"Not very much [persistent]. 'Yun ang ating frustration -- not very much, that guy," Gonzaga told "Showbiz Inside Report" in an interview that aired Saturday, when asked if Milby had been "masugid" (persistent) in wooing her at the time.
It was in 2005 when Milby was "evicted" from "PBB," and entered the world of showbiz, where he would become one of the most bankable leading men of his generation.
Starting out, he was paired onscreen with Gonzaga in several TV and film projects, including the romantic-comedy films "You Are The One" (2006), " "You Got Me" (2007), "My Big Love" (2008), "Ang Tanging Pamilya" (2009), and the drama series "Maging Sino Ka Man" (2007).
Their "love team" translated into real life at the time, according to Gonzaga.
"Si Sam, first ever love team na legit. Kasi may mga, oh, totoong kilig na naramdaman," Gonzaga said of her fondness for the hunk actor.
But Milby's efforts to win her over didn't last long, because, by Gonzaga's speculation, she had been too "conservative" to be easily won over.
"Nalulungkot din ako, kung anong sugid ng iba, hindi naman siya. Wala talagang effect 'yung mga conservative at that time, 'yung mga pa-sweet, pakipot," she said.
"Hindi tayo hinabol, walang humabol," she added, laughing.
After a string of "love team" projects, Milby and Gonzaga were paired with other onscreen partners. For Milby, his team-up with actress Anne Curtis led to a real-life relationship. They broke up in late 2008.
Gonzaga, meanwhile, is now in a long-term relationship with film director Paul Soriano.
