With rumors persistently linking him to being the real reason behind the Maja Salvador-Matteo Guidicelli breakup, Sam Milby clarified to members of the press what the real situation is between him and his former co-star in the 2010 series Precious Hearts Romance Presents: Impostor. “We’re okay. Even if we’re just friends but we’re seen together, iniisip na kagad may something. You have to accept that that’s how it is here, but they should understand that you can be friends with somebody and just be hanging out lang. Kami ni Maja we’re friends. Basta we’re friends. You know, we’re together, we’ve been friends for a while and it’s sad kasi with the breakup, you always get pulled into issues and it’s also sad kasi sila they have their own life,” he said during his launch as the endorser of the Diana Stalder Face, Body, and Skin Care Center by Dermaline, Inc. held last September 25 at Mario’s restaurant in Quezon City.
During the press conference, Sam also voiced his opinion that people should be more open-minded about Maja dating anybody right now. “They’re free to date anybody. Hindi naman kailangan na kung sino dini-date, yun na ang third party, hindi dapat ganun. They’re free to date anybody. Hindi kami nag-de-date, we’re friends. You know any guy would have paghanga sa kanya. She’s nice, she’s a very good person but we’re just friends right now. Basta we’re friends right now. It’s not saying that nothing can happen in the future. There have been girls like sa New York, may nagustuhan ako girl doon kaya lang may boyfriend. May girls na may hanga ako but in terms of being single, I’m still single,” he shared.
The 28-year-old actor admitted he is thankful his friendship with Maja was not at all affected by the rumors. “Hindi naman kasi klinaro din niya na wala namang third party and I hope people understand na. I don’t feel bad. This is something that I have to accept in the business. Like I said, if your friends with anybody, if you hang out with anybody, you’re automatically labeled and they make their own assumptions. Basta ang importante, alam ko wala akong ginawang masama. Alam ko kung ano ang totoo at kung ano ang tama. Sadly, people will have their own opinions. Lalabas na lang yung totoo,” he said.
Sam said he enjoys Maja’s company on-and-off cam after they were paired up in Impostor. “She’s very easy to work with. Ang Impostor naman hindi sobrang heavy drama so it was very light, sobrang masaya lang. We got very, very comfortable sa isa’t isa and super fun. Magaan sa trabaho, never naging problema, sobrang bait sa lahat, ganun siya. Everyone knows her like that eh. Off-cam naman ganun din. She’s very professional sa acting. Ganun din siya sa personal, she’s very, very nice, very kind. Hindi siya maarte,” he shared.
Sam admitted he thinks that their friendship made working with each other an enjoyable process. “I think the fact na naging sobrang kumportable kami sa isa’t isa, it made things so much easier. It just helps. When you’re comfortable with somebody especially in acting, you don’t have that ilangan, it’s just very comfortable,” said the Diana Stalder Center endorser.
Aside from currently working on his upcoming drama series with Judy Ann Santos and an indie movie directed by Adolf Alix, Sam said he is very happy with the fact that most of his family is in the country. “Actually kagabi nag-dinner kami, kasi trabaho lately has been very hectic for me so taping, shooting, taping, shooting so it was nice na magkasama kaming lahat. Ang kulang lang is yung dad ko na nasa States. My mom is leaving tomorrow morning to go back to the States. It was nice that we were all able to hang out together. For six years mag-isa lang ako dito sa Manila so it’s so nice to have my sister and my pamangkin here na feeling ko magiging artista talaga si Lona. Sobrang mahilig sumayaw, kumanta and everything and matututo naman siya mag-Tagalog. Sobrang cute siya. Basta hopefully they’ll stay here kasi I know my sister’s flight going back to the States is in January so hindi ko pa alam kung balak nila mag-stay talaga dito,” he added.
