Kapamilya heartthrob Enchong Dee is shedding more than just his good-boy image for his latest film "The Strangers."
In the recently released stills and teaser trailer for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, Dee is seen muddied and looking every bit an experienced hunter, with a long beard, in stark contrast to his more popular clean-look portrayals on TV.
The 23-year-old actor currently stars as Ethan in ABS-CBN's primetime series "Ina, Kapatid, Anak," a character he earlier referred to as a "rich kid." Before his return to evening soaps, Dee was seen as Luis Fernando in "Maria la del Barrio," and Caloy in "Magkaribal," both good-boy roles that offered variations of his heartthrob image.
His latest big screen outing, however, seems to be a departure from his boy-next-door image.
"More on action and horror siya," Dee told entertainment website Push in an earlier interview, referring to "The Strangers." "Tapos subtle approach 'yung romance. Mas sexy 'yung role ko doon so dapat tinapay ang abs. Nagsimula na ako magworkout, ang hirap."
The Lawerence Fajardo film also stars Kapamilya talents Julia Montes, Enrique Gil and JM de Guzman, who appear in the teaser trailer for the horror-action movie.
Also seen in the preview reel are Cherry Pie Picache, Janice De Belen and Jaime Fabregas.
"The Strangers" is Fajardo's follow-up to "Posas," which was named Best Picture at this year's Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival.
"Strangers" is set for a Christmas Day release, along with the other entries to the 39th MMFF.
