Angeline Quinto, Ciara Sotto audition for 'Miss Saigon'

Singers Angeline Quinto and Ciara Sotto are the latest Filipino hopefuls who are hoping to land a role in the West End revival of the international hit musical “Miss Saigon.”
Apart from Quinto and Sotto, local celebrities Arnel Ignacio, Epi Quizon and Gian Magdangal also came on the third day of auditions on Wednesday in Makati.

Quinto, who won the ABS-CBN talent search "Star Power" last year, is in the "wish list" of Dong Alegre, the Philippine representative of "Miss Saigon," along with Karylle, K-La Rivera and Rachelle Ann Go, who auditioned earlier in the week.

A known belter, Quinto is among the Kapamilya singers who regularly appear in ABS-CBN’s Sunday variety show “ASAP 2012.”

Sotto and Magdangal, meanwhile, are no strangers to theater having starred in the local production of “Rent.” Sotto also drew raves for her performance in "Sweet Charity" last year, while Magdangal received a Best Actor nomination from Philstage for his work in "Noli Me Tangere."

It was not clear, however, if they received callback slips.

Among the auditionees who got callback slips on the second day of Manila auditions are former Kapamilya singer Rachelle Ann Go, former MYX VJ K-La Rivera, Philippine Opera Company talent Francesca Farr and Ernest Tomana, a Pinoy talent from Macau.

Go, Rivera, Farr and Tomana joined ABS-CBN talents Karylle and Tippy dos Santos, who both auditioned on Monday and have moved to the next round of auditions for talents for “Miss Saigon.”

Manila-born Singaporean singer-actress Julia Abueva and veteran theater actor Jake Macapagal, theater actors Lorenz Martinez, OJ Mariano, Noel Rayos, Cathy Azanza, Kyla Rivera, Cara Barredo, Topper Fabregas and Jay Pangilinan also made the shortlist on Monday.

As hopefuls continued to pour in until the last day of auditions on Thursday, choreographer Geoffrey Garrett said he is “so excited” to find a lot of talent in Manila
