Real life, athletic couple Jennylyn Mercado and Luis Manzano are going to the extremes these days.
After conquering the jiu jitsu fighting arena and some diving spots in the country, Jen and Lucky had set out to sunny Dubai late last month to ramp up their daredevil activities.
In an interview with PEP posted on Monday, the Kapuso singer-actress ecstatically recalled the thrilling adrenaline rush she felt during their shark dive, which she said was her most favorite among all the activities they engaged in.
"Kami lang ang humahabol sa sharks, kasi hindi nagpapakita 'yung sharks... laging malayo lang or mabilis masyado.
"Doon, harap-harapan talaga. May twenty sharks doon sa aquarium-as in pakalat-kalat lang sila," shared the "H.O.T. TV" host.
While many would cringe at the thought of being surrounded by predators, Jen highlighted that they hadn't felt even the slightest bit of terror and even pointed out that they were in fact "very excited" to dip into the gigantic fish tank.
"Dahan-dahan lang kami. Pag nandiyan na sila, sumisilip lang kami, hindi kami gumagalaw. Hinahayaan namin silang lumapit," related Jen, "'Yun ang pinaka-exciting."
Aside from being able to see ocean creatures up close, like the manta rays, stingrays, and sharks, which she fondly described to be "kasing laki ni Luis," Jen said they were also able to learn the proper way to interact with sea predators.
"Hindi nga puwedeng mag-picture, eh. Kasi ano siya...kapag may metal kang dala-dala, or kahit anong nakakabit sa katawan mo na metal, puwede mo silang ma-attract. Kaya bawal 'yung kamera or microchip sa loob," the 25-year-old Kapuso star explained.
Even the bubbles, Jen says, tend to "disturb" the sharks, which might cause them to react aggressively.
"Kaya 'pag may dumadaan sa amin, hindi kami humihinga! Nakakatawa!"
The couple swam inside the tank for about 30 minutes.
Skydiving and Safari
Prior to leaving for their second trip as a couple, Jen mentioned in a report that they would definitely try skydiving. Unfortunately, though, it was only Luis who was able to do so.
"Kasi, 'di ba, may heart condition [ako], eh. 'Pag may mga ganun, hindi puwede, kasi 30,000 feet [ang taas].
"So, medyo 'pag ninerbiyos ako, baka doon pa ako mayari, 'di ba?" asked Jen.
According to her, it would completely go against their plan to just have a grand time overseas if she would end up being hurt just because she pushed herself over the edge. But she wasn't disappointed, she said, "Kasi fear ko rin 'yung heights, kaya okay lang."
They also squeezed in their schedule a trip to the Safari, where went around aboard huge 4x4 cars.
"Nakakagulat lang kasi marami kami-magkakasabay na 4x4," she related.
Seeing that they've enjoyed their recent trip, have they already listed down their next destination?
"Wala pang plano, kasi babawiin ko na naman 'yung mga araw na binakasyon ko.
"So, back to work na naman. Hindi ko na naman uli alam kung kailan ako magkakaroon [ng libreng oras]... Kasi, eto naman, seven months or eight months ago na namin plinano ito," she replied.
