KC Concepcion is the 2013 calendar girl of Tanduay.
Some members of the press were admittedly a bit shocked about Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion's girl going “more sensual.”
But KC already expected this kind of reaction.
At the press launch of her latest endorsement just hours earlier today, November 15, she explained:
“I’m going on 12th year for endorsing, so it’s the best time for me to do this.
“I think I waited for the right time.”
Besides, KC said, the rum brand gave her “full creative freedom” for the 12 poses she was going to do with a team she has worked with countless times: photographer Mark Nicdao, stylist Pam Quiñones, and hairstylist Celeste Tuviera.
She also said she made sure the pictorial wouldn’t go “overboard.”
The Kapamilya star/ singer/ host said, “I don’t want to do anything na magiging uncomfortable yung mga fans, at the same time, siyempre, yung pamilya ko, ah… at ako, siyempre po.”
NEW KC? Though she described herself as an “independent girl who can put a cap on things,” the 27-year-old star said she would still want “balance” for her career and image.
People may deem her latest move too drastic, but her term for it is “artistic endeavor.”
“So this is another side of me, na kasama ko pa rin ang mga tao as I grow up, as I explore. They know naman na meron din naman akong limits.”
And those limits, she said, were why she turned down the role that went to Andi Eigenmann in A Secret Affair.
KC’s one-liner statement was: “That’s the reason po na iba po yung gumanap dun.”
Is she ready for anything more daring?
She quickly said, “It depends.”
DO MOM AND DAD KNOW? KC is not sure if her mom Sharon Cuneta was given copies of her shots by Vic del Rosario—the big boss at VIVA, which now manages the X Factor host’s career.
KC used to be a Star Magic talent.
But KC is certain she has the Megastar’s support, “She’s been very happy for me, very supportive…
“Anything that’s being with VIVA is something that… kampante naman kahit papa’no dahil kahit papa’no, siya rin naman ang nakapag-impluwensiya sa akin to be with VIVA.
“But as much as possible, yung professional side, I try to keep it away from my family side...
"Like her, same with her, seldom namin pinag-uusapan yung work sa bahay.”
How about her dad?
Of Gabby, her biological dad, she said, “Hindi ko pa po nakakausap about work.”
Of Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan, her step dad, she said, “Pagdating po sa Daddy ko, kung okay kay Mama, okay rin po sa kanya.”
TWITTER BASHERS. When the subject came to the recent issue involving Sharon and her Twitter enemies, KC quickly said: “It’s something that I understand.”
Continuing, she said, “Unang-una sa lahat, medyo umo-overboard talaga yung ibang bashers, kahit sa ‘kin in the past.
“But, being a mother… Ah, ang mommy naman mas lalong nasasaktan para sa isang anak.
“Kahit na sinong anak iyan at kahit sinong nanay pa iyan, masasaktan ang nanay kapag nawalan ng trabaho yung anak, kapag nadisgrasyada yung anak, kapag nasaktan yung anak… mas masakit para sa isang nanay.
“So even though I tell her and reassure her that, ‘Mom, it’s okay,’ di ba… Parang, ‘Choose your battles,’ I understand her.
“She’s only being caring, supportive.”
“Alam niya siguro, nararamdaman niya siguro yung mga bagay na hindi ko sinasabi, hindi ko na kailangan sabihin.
"Siguro yun ang nararamdaman niya kaya lang siya nakakapag-react nang ganyan.”
Doe she get affected by what the bashers say?
KC answered: “Trying to focus on other things…. Saka kauuwi ko pa lang po galing Europe po. So, maganda po yung hangin, yung detox ko.”
She is, of course, talking about getting away from the toxic aspects of her job as an entertainer, endorser, and celebrity.
“Umalis lang muna from the gulo… Wag muna magkaroon ng call time, wag munang magkaroon ng parang deadline, ng maraming responsibilities.
“Two weeks lang. Fifteen days lang, pero sa akin, parang one year na yun.”
ON LOVELIFE. About her French suitor Pierre Emmanuel Plassart, KC said their status is still the same. They are friends.
“I want to prolong this time by being happy and busy because minsan lang naman mangyari yun sa buhay ng isang babae.
“Baka malay mo, if it happens, magtuluy-tuloy na.
“I’m not rushing right now.”
ON TV PROJECT. If there’s one thing she wants to progress, it’s her soap, Against All Odds.
She admitted to feeling nervous after learning about its postponement.
“Of course, I won’t lie, siyempre meron din yung kaba na sana naman, magtuluy-tuloy naman yung soap kasi, siyempre, napaso na rin ako before.”
It may be recalled that early this year, her expected series, Alta, with Gretchen Barretto, was also canceled.
But thinking positive, she’s hoping that this time, Against All Odds, which is with Judy Ann Santos, would materialize.
Both series are ABS-CBN projects.
“ABS naman has been supportive of me and I thank them for that.
“It’s a project that I’ve been looking forward to. Then, si Juday has been looking forward, too.
“I have high hopes na matutuloy naman itong project, lalo na’t maraming nang nakakaalam na mangyayari siya,” KC told the press.
