Maja Salvador goes into details about her breakup with Matteo Guidicelli

“Acceptance.” This was Maja Salvador’s answer when asked about her first step to move on from her breakup with Matteo Guidicelli. “Siyempre feeling ko makakapag-move on ka talaga kapag, di ba, natanggap mo na,” she explained.

Maja admitted that while there were times when she thought that she had totally recovered from the breakup, there were instances when she would feel emptiness out of nowhere. “Parang minsan okay ako tapos minsan parang may kulang. Anong nangyari? What happened? Parang babalikan mo pero siyempre kailangan mong tanggapin ngayon. Kailangan mong mag-move on, life goes on,” she related.

Last August, Maja confirmed that she and Matteo called it quits and said that the reason for their breakup is the lack of time for each other. At the blogger’s press conference of the film 24/7 In Love on November 15, Maja went into more details about why her relationship with Matteo didn’t work out.

“’Yun nga siyempre parehas kaming busy po tapos siya busy siya sa teleserye, tapos meron siyang kinabi-busy-han din na triathlete siya ngayon,” the actress said. She further explained that she is the type who wants her boyfriend to give her quality time, which makes it difficult for her to have a boyfriend who is an actor/athlete. “So ako po kasi inaamin ko na grabe ako magmahal at pag nawawalan ng oras sa akin… gusto ko kasi kahit papaano nagkakasama kami, may oras kami sa isa’t-isa pero pag ‘yun nga, siguro pag magkaroon ka ng triathlete na boyfriend mahirap talagang magsabay ‘yung oras n’yo.”

She also revealed that when they were still together and she wasn’t that busy with work yet, she would exert effort to accompany Matteo to his trainings. “Nakakasabay pa ako sa trainings niya eh sa mga takbo, ‘yung swimming, natuto po akong mag-swimming, so siyempre bilang responsibility mo rin bilang girlfriend masasabayan mo,” she said.

Still, Maja said that she needed to work because she is the breadwinner of the family, so there were times when she could not accompany Matteo anymore. “Siyempre kung mayaman na mayaman po ako, forever ko siyang sasabayan pero bilang malaki po ang responsibility ko po sa family ko siyempre kailangan ko din po magtrabaho. So ‘yon wala pong ano… oras lang po talaga ang naging problema.”

The actress even managed to joke that it is a good thing that the third wheel in their relationship is time and not a person, which also supposedly caused their breakup. “That’s why I hate fitness because I’m loveless,” she joked.

Maja added that she didn’t want to be selfish and tell Matteo to quit from what he loves doing. “Siyempre pag mahal mo naman ‘yung isang tao kailangang mong suportahan at ibigay ‘yung mga bagay na makakapag-grow at makatulong sa kanya di ba? Siyempre kailangan mong suportahan. Huwag kang maging selfish di ba? ‘Wag mong sabihin na itigil mo ‘yan. Siyempre kailangan mong malaman kung saan kayo magandang papunta.”
