Xian Lim will remember 2012 as the year his showbiz career hit big strides, making him one of the most visible leading men in local TV and films.
After a press conference last Tuesday for his latest endorsement, Lim, 23, was asked to comment on his TV "chemistry" with his "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" co-star Maja Salvador, and whether he plans to take the romantic team-up off camera.
Instead, the Kapamilya actor pointed to his thriving career in showbiz, and how this takes higher priority than his "love life."
"Right now kasi, at this point in my life, I'm really focused on my work. This year, 2012, was a huge leap for me. I'm speaking honestly. It's a huge step for me," he said.
"Pag inuna ang pag-ibig... There's always time for that," Lim added. "I'm not saying na I'm taking it out, na completely wala. Kasi pagmaramdaman naman 'yan, mahirap pigilan ang puso. I'm just saying na I'm focused [on my career], na it's (love life) not my priority."
Kim Chiu, also his co-star in "Ina, Kapatid, Anak," has been romantically linked to Lim since they appeared as Jade and Andy in the ABS-CBN series "My Binondo Girl."
The soap did not only mark the beginnings of the love team now dubbed "KimXi," but also paved the way for bigger projects for Lim, both as an actor and as a brand/product endorser.
After the primetime series, which aired its last episode in January this year, Lim went on to host a reality talent search for children, and bagged his second lead role in a primetime series via "Ina, Kapatid, Anak."
On the big screen, he topbilled "My Cactus Heart" along with Salvador and Matteo Guidicelli, and starred in the "barkada" flick "The Reunion" with other Kapamilya stars.
On top releasing a studio album under Star Records this year, he also scored several endorsements, ranging from a fastfood chain to a hand and body lotion targeted at female consumers.
"I really want to work, I want to make people happy," Lim said.
Next year, according to the actor, new "surprises" await his followers.
After the initial delays due to "a lot of changes," his new movie with Chiu will finally start filming next year, according to Lim.
"Also, expect a surprise from me. Hindi ko muna sasabahin 'yan. I'll tell everyone siguro pag sapit ng bagong taon," he said. "Pagdating ng mga January, I'll release it probably, it's a surprise from me to the people."
