Jennilyn Mercado at Luis Manzano, Nag Scuba Diving

It seems that Jennylyn Mercado is greatly influenced by her boyfriend Luis Manzano not just in her hosting but also in her love for sports.

The couple got close while doing Muay Thai and they’ve now moved on to scuba diving.

“Nag-start ito noong nagbakasyon kami sa Escaya (Beach Spa and Resort in Bohol),” Jennylyn shared on “Showbiz Central,” Jan. 22.

The short vacation came out as a welcome introduction for the actress-TV host into the world of scuba diving. Photos of her and Luis while underwater and while with friends atop a yacht were flashed on screen as the interview progressed.

She initially thought that was it. To her surprise, Luis had already gotten a scuba diving coach for her.

“Sabi niya, ‘O, may diving lessons ka.’ ‘Ha? Okay.’ Oo lang ako nang oo. Pinag-[scuba] lesson niya ako.”

Taking around four lessons, she also shared, “Actually, napilitan lang talaga ako.

She also added, “Sobrang ganda!”

She so loved the water sports that “ bumili na kami ng mga gear. Ako, bumili na ng underwater camera.”

As Luis is known to be a sports adventure enthusiast, Jennylyn feels “safe naman ako ‘pag kasama ko siya.”

Their common interest in physical fitness, Jennylyn stressed, works to their advantage as a couple.

Aside from sports, Jennylyn admits that Luis is also a great influence in her hosting career.

‘Pag may mga question ako, ‘Paano ba ‘to?’ [or] ‘Pa’no ko ba ‘to gagawin?’ Nasasagot niya. Tinuturuan niya ako kung paano gagawin.”

Jennylyn does not see their relationshio, which has now been disclosed to the public, as a hindrance to her acting career.

As a TV host, the actress also welcomes criticisms.

“Kanya-kanya opinion ‘yan. Kung positive, much better.

During the interview, Jennylyn was queried if she’s already met Luis’ dad, Edu Manzano.
