Piolo Pascual was quick to refute other people’s impressions that he’s difficult to please and doesn’t give his heart easily. He said it’s just that there’s a right time for falling in love. “Sobra naman, hindi naman. Dumadating yun sa tamang panahon, sa tamang tao… So I guess may mga bagay tayong kailangan gawin na naaayon sa pagkakataon na ibinibigay sa akin. Ngayon, itong trabaho ko, kung ano ipagagawa sa akin, yun ang gagawin ko. Kung ano man yung sa personal na buhay ko, dumarating at dumarating po yun. You deal with it as you go through it. In time siguro,” he said during the grand press con of Every Breath U Take at Dolce Latte, Thursday, April 26.
When asked if he hasn’t found the right girl for him, Piolo made it clear that he doesn’t want to offend anyone by bringing up his past relationships. One thing is for sure though, he also hopes to meet someone he could settle down with in the future. “Mahirap magsalita e, especially sa mga ganitong pagkakataon, mahirap ma-misquote. Ayoko mabigyan ng ibang meaning yung sasabihin ko, so I’d rather keep it to myself. But in time, siguro malalaman natin, and hindi naman tayo bumabata. I remember being asked that question before. Oras na lang ang magbibigay ng sagot sa katanungan [na iyan].”
On a lighter note though, Piolo accidentally revealed an ex-girlfriend’s “fetish.” It cropped up when he was asked about Angelica Panganiban’s obsession with his sexy body in Every Breath U Take. “Sa off screen hindi [ito ang first time na may humalik sa kili-kili ko], on screen yes. I remember before, off screen, merong akong girlfriend na may fetish sa kili-kili ko. Pero on TV, si Angelica lang [ang nakahalik dun],” he admitted with a laugh.
As for his team-up with Angelica, Piolo fondly shared how he had witnessed her turn into a talented actress since they first worked together in the teleserye Mangarap Ka back in 2004. “Sobra akong bilib sa kanya. Kasi bata pa lang pinapanood ko na ito sa [Princess Sarah]. Makikita mo talaga siya na nagbabago siya and lalo siyang gumaganda, lalo siyang gumagaling. She’s becoming comfortable with her craft.”
What Piolo likes the most about Angelica though is that she could easily relate with people from all walks of life. “Hindi siya maarte, hindi siya mahirap pakisamahan, at hindi ka mai-intimidate sa kanya. Pwede mo siyang ilagay kahit saan, madali siyang mag-adjust. Yun siguro ang isang malaking factor kung bakit nakagaan sa amin ni Direk Mae (Cruz) [yung trabaho]. Siyempre, ang leading lady aalagaan mo, kailangan talaga mag-a-adjust kayo lahat. But she didn’t give me a hard time being with her in the shoot, masarap siyang kasama.”
