Sa pagbabalik teleserye ng beteranang actress na si Coney Reyes sa Against All Odds kung saan makakasama niya si ang teleserye queen na si Judy Ann Santos, Sam Milby at KC Concepcion, hindi maitago ni Connie ang excitement sa kanyang bagong proyekto matapos ang matagumpay na 100 Days to Heaven.
“I am so looking forward to this one now. I think I had all the time to rest and do what I wanted to do. Ang hirap kasi na napipilitan kang magwork kasi pagod ka pa or hindi ka nakapahinga kaya ngayon I am really so looking forward to it, really so excited because ibang character nanaman itong ipoportray ko and who doesn’t want to work with Judy Ann Santos? Di ba she is Judy Ann Santos. I have worked with her several times before since she was a kid and after Ysabella na first time ko mag-kontrabida I am playing a role against her again here so I guess that is something that na aabangan nila.”
Sa ngayon nga ang madalas na ginagampanan ni Connie sa kanyang mga teleserye ay mga kontrabida. Inamin naman ng character actress na nung una ay tumatanggi na siya sa ganitong klaseng roles. Aniya, “At first like with Ysabella that was my first kontrabida at that time I did not want to but when they explained to me the character at sinabi na ala-Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada only on the cooking scene. Natandaaan ko when I watched The Devil Wears Prada when I left the theater I was just so awed and amazed at Meryl Streep hindi naman ako nagalit sa kanya pero sabi ko nga ang galing. Siyempre ang gusto ko magdevelop pa, gumaling pa. I want to know more about acting, to experience and to celebrate other things, other roles and other styles. And working with different directors works a lot also and sobrang excited ako na parang iniisip ko lang but they know my limits.” Kaya naman sa mga pagganap ng kontrabida roles ni Connie, hindi mo siya kakikitaan ng typikal na napapanood sa mga kontrabida. “Like I don’t make mura, I don’t want to kill mga ganun kasi lagi kong sinasabi na don’t worry I don’t have to make mura to show that I am mean. I an really try to show it with my eyes.”
Kilala si Connie na very in touch sa kanyang Christian life at sa kanyang spirituality kaya naman natanong sa kanya kung may conflict ba ito sa mga roles na kanyang ginagampanan. ”I don’t think so. Kasi I have to show evil to be able to show what is good and without showing evil you cannot make good shine. At saka yung character ko naman lagi siyang may redeeming factor, may redeeming value hindi lang siya laging bad just because she wants to be bad there is a reason why she is like that, there is a back story.”
Hindi maikakaila ang tagumpay ng kanyang pinakhuling serye na 100 Days To Heaven kaya naman ito ba ang nag-udyok sa kanyang tumanggap muli ng panibagong serye. “Okay lang naman kasi ngayon naman kasi I am ready to work more tapos ano na ako e wala naman akong asawa saka yung mga anak ko malalaki na, they are all adults. My youngest son Vico si very busy with school because he is in law school now so anong gagawin ng mother magmumukmuk? Ayaw ko naman magmukmuk ‘di ba? I think now pwede pa akong lalong maging productive, mas fruitful. I enjoy the work saka its so refreshing to work with young actors, for this people to work with.
