With her rise as a child star to her successful comeback as an acoustic sensation, Aiza Seguerra has proven she has the acting and singing talent in order to make it in showbiz. The former Little Miss Philippines standout shared her innermost thoughts in Showbiz Insider Report last July 7 about when she was outed in a television interview more than a decade ago, the 28-year-old singer-actress admits she thought it might be the end of her career. “After nun, ang dilemma was what do I do? Actually it wasn’t a conscious thing na mag-come out. Ang plano ko nun, kukuha ako ng two-year course and then start working. I never confirmed nor denied.

More than the public backlash, one of Aiza’s biggest concerns at that time was how her family would take the news. ”Ayoko saktan yung mga magulang ko. First time nagrebelde ako kasi hindi ko matanggap kung sino ako. Kumbaga I had to forgive myself and yun rin pala yung nagiging start ng problema, kung papano ko sila tratuhin kasi I was so defensive, na-hu-hurt ko na pala sila, dun kami nagkakaron ng problema.” Aiza says she has always known she was different even early on in life. I knew already. Naaalala ko nun, nawi-weirduhan ako sa sarili ko kasi yung mga kaklakase ko kinikilig sa boys, ako naman sa girls,” she admits to S.I.R.

Aiza says that what helped her get through this trying phase in her life was her family’s love and support. “Hanggang ngayon naman, people still say bad things about me just because I’m lesbian, ganyan ganyan. Pero malaking factor is my mom, my dad and my brother loves me for who I am. It’s what makes me stronger. Hindi man ako tanggap ng maraming tao, but the people I love, nirerespeto nila yung choices ko,” she reveals. When it comes to relationships, Aiza says she is just like any other person in love, but she admits that being lesbian also has its advantages. “Hindi ko alam, para akong boy? Pag time of the month, pa-girl (laughs). Pero on other days, very understanding (laughs). May pros and cons. Pros is of course you both are the same,” she says. Whenever she is in a relationship, the acoustic singer admits she does not believe in holding back when it comes to love.

In Be Careful With My Heart, Aiza plays the role of a single parent, which was a big challenge for her. I never thought of becoming a parent, whether biological or not.” Right now, Aiza admits she has nothing to complain about. “Sobrang happy ako in terms of everything. Hindi lang sa love life, hindi lang sa work, hindi lang sa family pero as a whole pa.”
