Amidst the calamity that has surrounded most parts of Luzon due to the nonstop rains, Kapamilya stars stepped up and volunteered whatever aid they can extend to relief and rescue operations. Social networking sites were filled with prayers and information about how to help flood victims particularly in Metro Manila. Unfortunately, some celebrities like KC Concepcion and Iza Calzado still received criticisms from online bashers in spite of their good intentions.
“Nakaka-sad din ang mga bashers. Bayad man, o hindi, ginagamit pa talaga nila itong pagkakataong ito para manlait at manira ng tao. Ang isang taong nilalait at kinaiinisan ninyo, hindi nyo alam, baka sya pa ang makatulong sa inyo sa mga oras ng pangangailangan,” tweeted KC in response to an online basher who misinterpreted her thoughts about long-term plans and effective solutions addressing flood-prone lands in the country.
Iza, who also kept in touch with KC via Twitter, also experienced being criticized for her tweets concerning the natural disaster that has left many of our fellow Filipinos homeless and hungry and what the government should do about it. “Walang nangsisisi, that's useless. Kailangan lang ma-determine who can actually create change an then we can all make personal efforts to make small changes that can lead to a major one. That's why I said we have to try and do something after this.” But despite the negative feedback from other people, it did not stop KC and Iza from coordinating with proper authorities/organizations for their donation or whatever form of aid they extended to flood victims.
Meantime, Sam Milby and John Prats reportedly joined relief and rescue operations in Marikina. Sam’s handler Caress Caballero mentioned this on Twitter, “Saludo ako sa mag best friends na @samuelmilby at @iamjohnprats. They're out NOW somewhere Marcos H-way area tumutulong sa mga binabaha! :)”
Anne Curtis on the other hand encouraged her followers to send out donations via Sagip Kapamilya. “To all my lovely followers, let’s get together blankets, towels any clothing items that you have to spare and donate them to Sagip Kapamilya. When the floods subside you may drop them off with canned goods and water at ABS-CBN. SAGIP KAPAMILYA HOTLINE 4114995.”
Angel Locsin also supported her Red Cross family in liaising their relief and rescue operations around Metro Manila. “RED CROSS: If you need to be rescued, call 143 and 527-0000. Put a white blanket outside your house so rescuers can locate where you are.”
