KC Concepcion joins UN program to help flood victims

KC Concepcion accompanied humanitarian aid workers in various cities of Metro Manila on Wednesday and Thursday to extend help to those affected by floods.

A United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) national ambassador against hunger, Concepcion herself went out to distribute relief goods to flood victims.

“On my way to do work in Caloocan with Team World Food Programme (WFP). God bless the Philippines,” she said in her official Twitter account.

“The World Food Programme (WFP) goods specially formulated for emergencies, will be distributed to affected families with children 5 years below,” she added.

Aside from Caloocan, Concepcion also reached out to the evacuees in Taguig.

“Maraming salamat ulit kay Chef Florabel para sa donation na lugaw. Three hot casseroles for our Taguig evacuees tonight,” she said.

Concepcion also said she is glad that the WFP has partnered with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, saying it is always “ready to support and augment government relief efforts.”

She also thanked the Philippine Airlines for its “free air transport of the World Food Programme relief goods from Cotabato to Manila.”

The actress said it is vital to give relief to people by giving them the most important necessity of mankind.

“A good, hot meal for evacuees in your area will soothe the body, warm the heart and calm the mind. Food for thought,” she said.

Concepcion has been named as the Philippines’ first National Ambassador Against Hunger three years ago.

She is the second ambassador against hunger from Southeast Asia after Indonesian TV and film actor Luna Maya.
