Maja Salvador Thelma wins big at Luna Awards

The independent film "Thelma" starring Maja Salvador ran away with key major awards at the Film Academy of the Philippines' (FAP) 30th Luna Awards held in Quezon City on Sunday night.

The Kapamilya actress received her second best actress trophy for her role as a runner in "Thelma," which also won her a Gawad Urian award.

"Thelma" was also cited for best direction for Paul Soriano, as well as best cinematography and best screenplay at the Luna Awards.

"Nagulat po ulit ako. Salamat po sa pagkakataon na bigyan po ulit ako ng Best Actress award," Salvador said during her acceptance speech, where she also thanked directors Paul Soriano and Lino Cayetano.

Laguna Governor Jeorge "E.R." Ejercito took home the best actor award for the action film "Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story," which was also named best picture.

Kulang na lang FAMAS," Ejercito told ABS-CBN News after receiving the trophy.
