Celebrity couple Venus Raj and Andrei Felix admitted that they’ve heard about previous reports that they were caught doing public displays of affection at work. But the beauty queen maintained that there’s nothing wrong with it since they’re in a relationship after all. “Pwede bigyan ng ibang kulay kung ‘di kami magboyfriend-girlfriend. Lahat naman tayo dumadaan sa ganyang phase sa buhay. Lahat tayo ma-i-in love. ‘Pag mahal mo ang isang tao, wala kang pakialam sa kahit anong iisipin ng nasa paligid mo. As long as hindi ka nakakasakit ng kapwa mo, wala kang natatapakang ibang tao, at sa tingin mo tama ang ginagawa mo, wala ka dapat ikahiya,” she explained.
Andrei added that there’s really something to be said about couples who can’t get their hands off each other in public; but it’s not as if he and Venus crossed the line of decency. “Narinig ko na din yan pero wala naman kaming ginagawa na hindi normal e. Ginawa namin sa Gandang Gabi Vice yung tarsier jump pero hindi naman namin palagi ginagawa yun kahit saan. Sabi ko nga sa kanya, it’s also normal for people to think that way, dahil before when I was single, I used to think the same way towards other couples. Naiintindihan ko na ngayon. Hindi maiiwasan. You cannot please everybody.”
After 8 months of being together, the two can’t hide their growing love for each other. Andrei’s particularly proud of Venus’s achievements and he seems to be a very supportive boyfriend. “Hindi namin inaasahan na magiging ganito. Thank you sa Diyos dahil umabot kami ng 8 months at sana tuloy-tuloy na. Sabi ko sa kanya, ayoko siyang madaliin. She has a very bright career ahead of her. Napanood niyo ba yung Maalaala Mo Kaya episode niya? Pinakamataas [na TV rating, umabot ng] 40.9 percent. Sobrang inspirational story. Sabi ko nga sa kanya, ‘Pwede ka na magteleserye. Gawin mo lang ng gusto mo gawin, nandito lang ako sa tabi mo.”
Venus further shared that the fact that they started out as friends enabled them to establish a good foundation in their relationship. “Ang maganda dun, ‘pag naging magasawa kayo at magkaibigan kayo, hindi ninyo iisipin na burden ang isa’t isa. Oo mahal ko siya, pero paano sa mga pagkakataon na hindi mo siya iniisip bilang asawa mo? Maganda na may bonding moments kayo bilang best friends. Pati mga anak ninyo in the future maganda na nakikita nila na yung mga magulang nila magkaibigan pala. Hindi maiiwasan yung away pero dahil maganda ang foundation ninyo, madali ninyo maayos.”
As for settling down, Andrei was quick to say that marriage is not far from his mind at this point in time. If God permits, he’d like Venus to be the one he’d share a lifetime with. “Aminin na natin hindi na ako bumabata. Hindi ako pumapasok sa isang relasyon para makipaglokohan. Nakilala na siya ng parents ko, ng pamilya ko, mga kaibigan ko. Time will tell. Depende sa plano ng Diyos. Siyempre ‘di rin biro ang pagpapakasal. Kung may iaabano kayo ok lang sa amin,” he quipped before adding, “But I’m also thinking about the future. Hindi lang basta kasal ‘yan e. Kailangan din isipin yung para sa magiging anak namin eventually. So tamang ipon, tamang planning at tamang usapan.”
