Gerald Anderson expressed his support for fellow former Pinoy Big Brother Matt Evans

Gerald Anderson expressed his support for fellow former "Pinoy Big Brother" teen housemate Matt Evans amid the controversy involving Evans' alleged altercation with his live-in partner.
"Nakakalungkot but they can't keep a good man down," Anderson told reporters after a fashion show held Tuesday night at the ongoing Philippine Fashion Week, when asked for his comment on Evans' arrest.

"Okay lang 'yun. Isang pagsubok lang 'yan sa buhay," added Anderson, Evans' fellow "PBB" housemate in the reality TV show's first "Teen Edition" in 2006.

Evans was jailed for almost two days, until he was released Monday afternoon after posting a P200 bail. He was arrested on the charge of slight physical injury, for allegedly hurting his live-in partner Johnelline Hickins and her brother Yanni.

The "Paraiso" star, in a press conference held Tuesday afternoon, denied the accusations.

Asked if he can "attest" to Evans being incapable of hurting Hickins, Anderson said: "Six years ko na kilala si Matt, napakabait na tao noon."

Lending an advice to his long-time friend, the Kapamilya actor added, "Stay strong at magdasal lagi."
