Gerald Anderson was quick to downplay notions that Sarah Geronimo is eager for more freedom, particularly pertaining to their relationship.
Apparently, buzz goes that the Pop Princess wants to make her supposed romance with Anderson public save that her parents allegedly prevent her from doing so.
Just recently, the issue gained more ground after Geronimo expressed her desire to be given the gifts of freedom and love during her recent concert. The declaration was supposedly not part of the shows' script.
Anderson, however, doesn't want to make a big deal of it, reasoning that Geronimo's statement could mean just about anything.
"Marami ibig sabihin 'yung freedom," said he in a recent interview with Bulletin Entertainment. "[It could mean] na she just wants to be independent."
"Hindi naman porke’t [gusto ng] freedom [ibig sabihin] magbo-boyfriend na," he added.
"Baka naman the person just wants to stand on her own, be matured, na kaya na niya ang sarili niya bago pumasok sa isang relasyon."
Anderson admitted that he was at the concert himself.
"Oo, I was there to support her. Kinilig nga ako," said he pertaining to the singer's spiels. "Sabay ako sa buong Araneta na kinilig."
He also revealed having gone to meet Geronimo's family backstage.
"Sandali lang. Nag-hi lang ako," he shared.
In the same interview, Anderson insisted that he and Geronimo are still just friends.
"Hindi ko naman itatago kung sakali but right now we're just friends and ‘yun ‘yung pinakaimportante," he said.
He didn't deny, however, that they already have pet names for each other: She calls him "babe," he calls her "baby girl."
Rumor has it that the duo's growing closeness worries Geronimo's parents so much that they have supposedly asked Star Magic to cancel a planned movie pairing between the two.
Anderson would rather not comment on the matter, saying, "Let's just wait kung ano sasabihin ng Star Cinema."
But Anderson, it seems, unwittingly confirmed rumors that he is now barred from visiting Geronimo at home when he is made to share how he and Geronimo communicates of late.
Anderson said, "Sa ABS-CBN [Studios] minsan, pero sa bahay hindi."
