Citing their successful careers in show business, actress Melissa Ricks believes that she and her ex-boyfriend, Jake Cuenca, are better off without each other.
Ricks, who appears on the cover of FHM Philippines' September 2012 issue, made the statement in a press conference for the men's magazine held Thursday.
While she could still not bring herself to forget her painful past with Cuenca and be friends with him, the actress wished him all the best.
Ricks is currently in a relationship with another Jake --"Pinoy Big Brother" alumnus Paul Jake Castillo.
"I think kasi you can forgive, but forgetting is the hardest part. And I don't think I can forget whatever happened pero it's better na hindi na lang kami mag-friends. It's better that way," she said of Cuenca.
"Everything is better now, maganda yung career niya, maganda 'yung career ko. I couldn't ask for more. I just wish him all the best," she added.
Ricks, who first got her big break via the defunct ABS-CBN soap "Nasaan Ka Elisa?", is part of the Kapamilya network's top-rating series "Walang Hanggan."
Cuenca, meanwhile, has his own primetime soap, "Kahit Puso'y Masugatan," and an afternoon series titled "Kung Ako'y Iiwan Mo."
While she has yet to forget what happened between her and Cuenca, Ricks said she is enjoying her relationship with Castillo.
"Kakaibang happiness ang nararanasan ko ngayon. Hindi ako worried, alam ko na kahit anong mangyari ay nandiyan siya for me," she said of her current boyfriend.
It was May of last year when Ricks confirmed her separation with Cuenca after a two-year relationship.
