Balladeer Christian Bautista will be paired with actress Gretchen Barretto as he returns to acting on local television.
After his award-winning ensemble stint in pan-Asian TV series "The Kitchen Musical," Bautista is set to return to acting; this time, on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida soap, "Princess and I."
Bautista said he will play a blood-thirsty rebel who will avenge the people of Yangdon for the kingdom's unjust rule.
"Excited ako sa 'Princess and I' kasi mahaba ang buhok ko na rebelde na pumapatay ng mga tao, pero merong rason -- kasi I'm fighting for what I believe in, I'm fighting for the oppression of the kingdom of Yangdon against sa mga masa," Bautista said.
Aside from shedding his good boy image onscreen, Bautista said he is also excited to be partnered with Barretto, and to work alongside the other members of "Princess" cast.
"[It's exciting] to be partnered with Gretchen, my fellow 'Kitchen Musical' actor Art Acuna, and my fellow Stages Enrique Gil. It's good, it's a good time," Bautista said.
The singer also revealed that his kissing scenes with Barretto have already been filmed, saying: "[Naging] very gentleman po ako, so sakto lang."
10th anniversary
Meanwhile, Bautista is also set to celebrate his 10th anniversary in showbiz with a "grand tell-all musical night" titled "The Way You Look at Me: The Christian Bautista 10th Anniversary Special."
For the celebration, Bautista will reunite with former girlfriend Rachelle Ann Go, and will aso be joined by other singers and Kapamilya talents inlcuding Jose Mari Chan, Iza Calzado, Sam Milby, Jovit Baldivino, Marcelito Pomoy, Bugoy Drilon, Khalil Ramos and Angeline Quinto.
"The Way You Look At Me" will air on July 8 on ABS-CBN's Sunday Best.
