Piolo admits he had talks with TV5

MANILA, Philippines – Actor Piolo Pascual revealed he also received feelers from a rival network to leave ABS-CBN.
In an interview with YES! Magazine in its July issue, Pascual said he was in talks with No. 3 network TV5, but he made sure to update Star Magic executives Johnny Manahan and Mariole Alberto every step of the way.
Pascual, however, did not disclose as to when these talks with TV5 happened.
“What’s nice about these people is that... kumbaga, yeah they would want me to stay, but they also want you to protect your welfare. They are the type of people na if you want to be released—and they don’t have contracts with any of us—if you want to be released they won’t hold you down. If you’re not happy with us, you can go,” Pascual said of Star Magic.
Early last year, rumors swirled in entertainment circles that Pascual will leave the Kapamilya network. The actor repeatedly denied the reports, saying he is happy with ABS-CBN.
Pascual also belied rumors that he was demanding a whopping P1-billion talent fee from TV5. According to the rumors TV5 executives decided not to pursue the actor anymore because the asking price was too big for a three-year contract.
Actress Sharon Cuneta, however, reportedly signed a P1-billion contract with TV5, which is spread over five years.
