Erich Gonzales is back in the country after spending some weeks in Thailand to shoot her upcoming movie with Thai heartthrob Mario Maurer. “We’re almost done with the movie, pero there’s still sequences left na isu-shoot namin and ‘yon, exciting kasi ipapalabas na siya ngayong October,” the actress shared during Yes Magazine’s 100 Most Beautiful Stars event last Monday, June 3. The rest of the scenes are expected to be shot in Ilocos.
Erich related that she had so much fun in the company of her foreign leading man while in Thailand. “He is very fun to work with, napaka-ano niya, kid at heart,” she beamed. “Very playful and kaming lahat [including] mga Thai actors okay kaming lahat sa set. Kasama ko po sa Thailand si Ate Joy Viado so siya ‘yung nagdadala ng comic relief.”
The actress also confessed that she had to adjust in the beginning since it was her first time to work with a foreign actor. “At first talaga siyempre po ‘yung culture differences, pero when I got to know him sobrang cool siya. Wala talaga akong masasabi sa batang ‘yon sobrang bait talaga.”
She also revealed that she met Mario’s long-time girlfriend, Sumontip Leuangthai, who also goes by the nickname Gubgib. “I’ve met his girlfriend, nag-visit siya. They’ve been together for nine years. She’s such a sweetheart, I love Gubgib,” Erich said. “Nagbisita siya sa set.” She continued that Mario’s special someone came with food for everyone.
Though Mario’s status is public knowledge, Erich is not worried that less people might show support to their team-up. “For me po ‘yung audience natin ngayon they’re very open, as long as maganda ‘yung story, maganda ‘yung pagkakagawa ng proyekto, I know they’re supportive po.”
Erich’s tone then changed and became a bit hesitant when asked about the non-showbiz guy that she previously admitted that she is dating. “Okay naman. I’m very happy with everything that’s going on sa buhay ko.”
When asked directly if she is now in a relationship, her safe answer was, “I’ll let you know po. I’m dating a non-showbiz guy and I’m enjoying that.”
